Our services

We offer a range of acupuncture, acutonics and massage treatments. You can read more about these by clicking on the treatment you are interested in below.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can be traced back at least 2,000 years. It is one of the oldest health care systems in the world. It is an effective, increasingly popular form of health care, and is used by people from a wide range of cultural and social environments. It is used to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of qi through the patient.

As a natural form of healing, acupuncture:

  • provides drug-free pain relief

  • effectively treats a wide range of acute and chronic ailments

  • treats the underlying cause of disease and illness as well as the symptoms

  • provides a holistic approach to the treatment of disease and illness, linking body, mind and emotions

  • assists in the prevention against disease and illness as well as the maintenance of general well-being.

A wide range of conditions can be addressed, including:

  • musculoskeletal disorders such as back ache, stiff neck and joint pain

  • digestive conditions such as constipation, diarrhoea, indigestion and Irritable Bowel Syndrome

  • respiratory conditions including common cold, cough and shortness of breath

  • immune responses such as hay fever

  • some skin conditions may also be improved by acupuncture

  • emotional and sleep disorders such as stress, anxiety and insomnia

  • gynaecological conditions such as painful and irregular periods

  • some obstetric disorders including morning sickness.

Massage

Massage therapists use the hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate soft tissues of the body (muscle, tendon, ligament and connective tissue). The rhythmic nature of massage is used to relax and calm or stimulate the nervous system.

The key aims of therapeutic massage are to:

  • Relax muscular tension

  • Restore soft tissues affected by pain and injury

  • Stimulate circulation and lymph flow

  • Provide deep relaxation

The following massage therapy services are provided at our clinic:

  • Relaxation massage is for general relaxation of the body and mind. It is a flowing, rhythmical massage that uses techniques to relax and stretch soft tissues and provide deep relaxation. The pressure of this type of massage is relaxing. Relaxation massage is not designed to relieve chronic pain or soft tissue injury.

  • Remedial massage assists in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. It tends to use a deeper pressure than relaxation massage. Deep tissue massage is beneficial in releasing chronic tension. The pressure of the massage technique is modified and adapted to individual pressure tolerance.

  • Myofascial Release focuses on tight fascia surrounding muscle and connective tissue or on Trigger Points in the fascia. It applies a gentle sustained pressure to Myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

  • Trigger point therapy focuses on taut bands within muscle tissue that refer pain in other parts of the body. The pain of trigger points is often described as sharp and intense or as a dull ache. Trigger point therapy applies pressure to the tender areas within the muscle tissue in order to relieve muscle pain and dysfunction.

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage (or Lymphatic massage) uses very light pressure to promote the drainage of lymph from the body tissue toward lymphatic sites. It is a useful treatment where there is inflammation, injury and congestion e.g. headaches including sinusitis where there is congestion, or post-surgery or post-injury, where the tissues may be swollen and sore.

Acutonics ®

Acutonics embraces the belief that sound and vibration have the power to heal, create, generate, transform and give birth to new ideas and new consciousness. In Acutonics, specific vibratory energy is created through precision-calibrated tuning forks, hand chimes and symphonic gongs.

Acutonics sessions can be applied for a variety of physical signs and symptoms, very similar to those treated with classical acupuncture.

These may include:

  • musculoskeletal pain, headaches, insomnia, digestive disorders and others

  • emotions, including support for anxiety, stress, grief and depression

  • attitudinal projects, such as developing acceptance, consistency clarity, assertiveness, stability and others,

  • according to the client’s choice; this latter is a specialty of Keith’s.

In the case of emotions, Acutonics should be used in addition to other therapies and strategies. These may include professional counselling, medication, exercise, herbal remedies and meditation.
