About Traditional Ka Huna Massage

Ka Hana bodywork originated in the South Pacific region and was used during Rites of Passage as a transformational massage and healing system. This healing system is the knowledge of the ancient Hawaiians that has been preserved in a linage of over 50 generations. Also referred to as Hawaiian Temple Style and Lomi Lomi, this beautiful form of bodywork provides a holistic approach to healing by balancing the body and mind in its physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions.

The Hawaiians believe all aspects of the body are one. They have an understanding that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects all form part of the whole self. Therefore the intent of Ka Huna (Lomi Lomi) is free energy flow by releasing tension and stress in the body, thus revitalizing, balancing and harmonizing the mind, body and soul. When healing takes place on one level, it restores and integrates all levels of being. Rejuvenating massage addresses many levels of healing to restore balance.

What to expect in a session

Using the Ka Huna approach, the practitioner moves around the massage table utilising flowing hula & Tai Chi style movements. This incorporates hands, forearms and elbows whilst applying soft and deep pressure. Stretches are also applied within the flow of the massage. Organic coconut oil is used and aromatherapy contributes an added dimension to the massage.
