Scott Read - Osteopath
B. App. Sc. (Osteo), M. Ost.

Scott has been working as an osteopath in Sydney since he completed his Masters degree in Osteopathy at the University of Western Sydney in 2002. Over that time he has developed a keen interest in treating acute and chronic mechanical neck pain, repetitive strain injuries of the upper extremity, pregancy related conditions (antepartum and postpartum) and headache/migraine presentations.

His practice as an osteopath was deeply enriched by his five year employment at the University of Western Sydney where he lectured, tutored, supervised and taught practical classes. His practice is firmly based in strong myofascial and muscular release techniques, joint mobilisation and manipulation and more gentle positional release and indirect techniques. Since 2007 has has also been deeply involved in cultivating an Iyengar Yoga practice and is currently in the process of training to become a certified Iyengar yoga teacher.

His osteopathic and yoga practices both inform and complement one another and he often prescribes gentle and restorative poses for his patients as a supplement to the manual therapy he provides in clinic. In 2009 he spent three months traveling through India to further his yogic practice and, whilst there, he rediscovered his love of reading and learning.

Since his return he has been studying part-time at the University of Sydney in an Arts program with majors in English Literature and Gender Studies. He is eagerly anticipating his return to India in 2014 where he will spend one month with the Iyengars at their institution in Pune.
