Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of conditions. It is the most well-known form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is rooted in an eastern view of philosophy and grow with its culture for over 2000 years. Acupuncture involves fine needles insertion based on points located along specific body paths called Meridians. It flows Qi (or known as internal energy) in our body for healing. In the initial and follow-up sessions, our practitioner will start with a holistic TCM health check to ensure we understand our patient thoroughly to tailor the best treatment plan. Acupuncture treatment will be given after the TCM health check with your consent. Your practitioner will explain to you how the treatment will be performed prior to commencing. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to ask questions. Various methods can be used in an Acupuncture session depending on different conditions, such as plain needles insertion, electro-acupuncture, warming needle technique, manual needle stimulation, and facial rejuvenation needling.
Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM)
CHM is a type of herbal remedy formulated based on Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and dietary culture. Practitioners compose different natural substances into a tailor-made formula to treat different body imbalance or dysfunction. Traditionally, CHM is prescribed as raw herbs and simmered into liquid (decoction) to consume. A course of CHM can be varied from 3 days to 6 months or longer depending on the conditions; it can be used together with Acupuncture for a sustainable result or on its own. Modern CHM is available in pre-formulated pills, granules, raw herb powders, capsules, tinctures, ointments, and plasters, for convenience and suit a busy lifestyle. In Healing Berries, we only prescribe formula from certified Australian suppliers that are regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), to ensure herbal ingredients are safe from pesticide and heavy metals. (Please note that herbal prescriptions are not included in consultations fees. All prescriptions will send directly to the patient’s postal address in 1 to 3 days depending on location.)
Cupping Therapy is one of the treatment methods in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It uses suction glass cups to draw stagnant blood close to the body surface. This method can be used in a range of conditions, such as acute/chronic pain, muscle tension, common cold, or health prevention. Like many other therapies, cupping can be added to an acupuncture treatment or used on its own. If you are considering booking a cupping only session, please be aware that in some conditions, such as high fever, ruptured skin, extreme fatigue, are not suitable for cupping. Please contact us if you are unsure before making an appointment. In Healing Berries, a cupping only session will start with 10mins consultation to ensure we understand your concerns and body conditions, then follow by 20mins cupping therapy.
Gua Sha (Spooning)
Gua Sha is a treatment method involved using a porcelain spoon or similar tools with smooth round edges, which scraped over a certain area of the skin surface with neutral lubricating substance to promote blood flow. It can be used on its own or supplementary to Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Cupping. Typically, practitioners use Gua Sha for a range of conditions such as pain management, facial rejuvenation, and weight management. If you are considering booking a Gua Sha only session, please be aware that in some conditions, such as high fever, ruptured skin, extreme fatigue, are not suitable for Gua Sha.
