At Peninsula Physical Health and Nutrition, our motto is “To Believe is to Succeed”. Therefore, we’ll keep you motivated whilst ensuring you are following the correct path to your ultimate health and fitness goals whether that be weight loss or weight gain, toning, reducing cholesterol, improving Diabetes management or prevention of other chronic health conditions, or simply to help you achieve optimal health and longevity. Director - Kate Save
Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist, Diabetes Educator and Personal Trainer

Kate is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian, Accredited Exercise Physiologist, has completed a double degree in Nutrition/Dietetics and Exercise Science, and completed an Advanced Diploma in Diabetes Education. Kate is also currently completing her Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology (only because she just loves learning and keeping up to date with the most recent evidence-based science).

Kate lectures in the fields of Nutrition and Exercise Science for various educational institutions – her key areas of focus are Weight loss, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Bariatric Surgery Nutrition, Coeliac Disease, Eating Disorders, food intolerances and irritable bowel conditions. Kate also has been involved in assisting in the development of nutritional science subjects and assessment for Deakin University, Melbourne. Kate has years of media experience and enjoys presenting Nutrition and Health-related segments whenever she gets the opportunity.

Her main objective is to assist individuals achieve optimal health and well-being through balanced nutrition and appropriate exercise prescription.



Prue Thomas
Dietitian

Prue has completed her Masters of Dietetics, Masters of Health Science and a Bachelor of Science. She has a passion for health and nutrition and enjoys helping people achieve their goals. She has a special interest in weight management, diabetes, sports nutrition and food intolerances.

Prue is also a qualified running coach and has coached runners from beginner to marathon level, as well as running 3 marathons herself.



Marnie Ward
Dietitian

Marnie has over 6 years experience working as an Accredited Practicing Dietitian. She works both in private practice and the clinical setting at Peninsula Private Hospital and Beleura Hospital.

Marnie also works alongside Kate Save and Mr Geoffrey Draper (Bariatric Surgeon) at Melbourne Bariatrics where she specialises in providing dietary advice for clients before and after weight loss surgery including Lapbands, Gastric Sleeves and Gastric Bypass surgery. Marnie also has a special interest in both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, including assisting patients with Insulin Pumps.

Marnie enjoys keeping fit herself and participates in yoga on a regular basis.

Marisa Nastasi
Dietitian

Marisa has had a long standing passion for nutrition and how it plays an integral role in keeping the body healthy and free of disease. As a dietitian, she hopes to impart her knowledge and skills of achieving optimal health through good nutrition practice, on to those individuals who suffer from ill-health including chronic disease. One of Marisa’s interests is in the management of food intolerance that cause irritable bowel syndrome.

Recently, Marisa has completed her certificate III and IV in group fitness and personal training which is an essential skill set that enables her to develop a plan for clients that incorporates both nutritional and lifestyle strategies that are aimed at providing sustainable change.



Katie McKean
Dietitian

Katie has had a lifelong passion for food and nutrition and understanding the way in which diet can affect our health and wellbeing. Following this passion, Katie has completed her Masters of Dietetics as well as a Bachelor of Food Science and Nutrition and the Graduate Diploma of Education, specialising in Food Technology. Katie is interested in all facets of Dietetics and enjoys continually increasing her knowledge in the management of a diverse range of conditions. Katie aims to impart her knowledge in nutrition as well as share her passion for healthy food with others in order to assist them in living a healthier life.

Katie also enjoys keeping active and regularly participates in fun runs around Melbourne, attends group fitness and yoga classes.



Emily Commerford
Dietitian

Emily is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian who has a strong passion for helping others achieve a healthy lifestyle with a nutritious, balanced diet. Emily has a Bachelor of Exercise Science (Sports Nutrition) and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Emily’s key interest areas include weight management, diabetes management, sports nutrition and food intolerances. Emily’s key ambition is to help her clients achieve their weight and nutritional goals and provide support to help them maintain a lifelong healthy attitude towards food.

Emily enjoys keeping active and has completed numerous triathlons, half marathons and one marathon.



Rochelle Barlow
Dietitian

Accredited Practising Dietitian with 5 years experience in community nutrition, corporate health and private practice.

I am qualified to manage a number of medical conditions and chronic diseases; including malnutrition, nutrient deficiencies, diabetes, heart disease, poly cystic ovarian syndrome, coeliac disease, crohns and food intolerance. I have a passion for delivering nutrition seminars and working long term with clients to improve their health status.

Besides being a health professional; I love adventure and go on regular camping trips to the Alpine region of Victoria. I spend a lot of time keeping fit; by attending group fitness classes at my local gym and riding my road bike along beach road.



Pepita Nelson
Dietitian

Pepita has completed a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics and a Graduate Certificate in Health Promotion. She enjoys working with people to make healthy lifestyle choices easier. She has extensive experience delivering corporate health and wellbeing programs in the workplace.

Pepita has completed a Certificate III and IV in Fitness and enjoys running and Pilates. She also loves to cook.



Caroline Naughton
Diabetes Educator

Caroline has over 20 years experience as a Diabetes Educator in both public & private sectors. She graduated in nursing from St Vincent’s Hospital and has since worked in various areas of diabetes in Melbourne and on the Mornington Peninsula.

Caroline assists to improve knowledge and understanding about diabetes, and enable clients to develop meaningful & effective strategies for dealing with all aspects of their diabetes management.



Dr. Marion Barton
Psychologist

I am a clinical psychologist who has been in private practice in the Frankston area for the past 7 years. As a clinical psychologist I am experienced in all areas of mental health including depression, anxiety, grief and loss but I also have a special interest in eating disorders and disordered eating. I have worked extensively with clients who are considering or who have had bariatric surgery and also those with issues such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder.

Counselling is considered to be the first line of treatment in eating disorders and something that should be done as an early intervention if possible.
