About Me

Leanne Sippel
BHSc (Hom), Cert IV Bowtech Bowen Therapy

I started my Bachelor’s Degree when my youngest child was 1 year old. It took me over 7 years to complete, in part due to living a 6 hour round trip from College and having young children. I live with my husband and four children on a dairy farm. We are passionate about sport, especially cricket and touch football. I am on the Executive of the Murgon & District Cricket Club and manage representative teams. I referee touch football, teach karate (I’m a 4th Dan Black Belt), and retired in 2016 after 14 years as the local tennis coach.

I have a passion for empowering people to heal their own illness, and use homeopathy and bowen therapy to assist in this process. I offer holistic, individualised, person-centred therapy for the whole family. My aim is to help individuals and families heal themselves by utilising the body’s innate healing ability. I have an interest in assisting athletes – both professional and social – to return to sport at the earliest possible opportunity.

I’m registered with the Australian Register of Homeopaths, and am a Professional Member of the Australian Homoeopathic Association. I completed a Cert IV in Bowen Therapy with Bowtech during 2016 and am currently studying a Diploma in Specialised Techniques.

Homeopathy

What is Homeopathy?

Homœopathy is a complete system of medicine developed by German physician and chemist, Dr Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), based on the principle of “let likes cure likes”. This law or principle is based on a long held belief as far back as Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, and other ancient healers such as Paracelsus, that substances which produce symptoms in a healthy individual can be used to treat similar symptoms in a sick person. Thus homœopathic treatment is believed to stimulate the body’s ability to fight infection and susceptibility to disease.

Homœopathy is now used worldwide, with a 200 year history of clinical experience. It is recognised by the World Health Organisation as a valid form of healthcare.

In Britain, for example, there are five homœopathic hospitals available under the National Health Service (NHS), including the London Homœopathic Hospital. The English Royal family has used it since Queen Victoria’s time in 1830, and it has wide acceptance throughout Europe. In France the most popular cold and flu remedy is a homœopathic medicine, and in India over 10,000 doctors use homœopathic medicines to treat their patients.

Homœopathy may be used in the treatment of chronic illness, acute conditions and minor accidents requiring first aid. It is a complementary medicine and can work alongside conventional treatments and medications where applicable or required.

Bowen

Bowtech – The Original Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique (also known as Bowtech – the Original Bowen Technique and Bowenwork) is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. Sometimes called the homeopathy of bodywork, it utilizes subtle inputs to the body (known as moves), stimulating the body to heal itself, often profoundly.

The Bowen Technique offers tremendous benefit to clients with very little effort on the part of the practitioner. It can provide relief for many types of injuries and other health problems, both acute and chronic, and it does so holistically, via the body’s innate healing mechanisms. The practitioner’s moves deliver signals to the nervous system at specific locations (on muscles, tendons, ligaments, or nerves), and the body responds in its own time, within its vital capacity. While there are a few, very specific situations in which a particular ‘procedure’ is contraindicated, Bowen Technique is appropriate for people of all ages, in all degrees of health.

When faced with an acute injury, a Bowtech practitioner may effectively apply the work to address only the traumatized areas, since the client has had little time to compensate for, and accommodate to, the injury. However, most practitioners find themselves working with clients whose conditions have developed gradually over many years, and patterns of dysfunctional muscle recruitment and posture have become entrenched over time. In these cases, Bowtech practitioners often need to take a more ‘whole-body’ approach to facilitate optimal alignment and recovery.

Rather than focusing on a single complaint, Bowen Technique addresses the entire body, by restoring balance via the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS controls over 80% of bodily functions and is very susceptible to external stressors. Most people today live in a constant state of high stress and sympathetic ANS over-stimulation (fight, flight or freeze mode). Healing can occur only after the ANS shifts from sympathetic to parasympathetic dominance (rest, relax and repair mode). Bowen Technique enables that shift. During a session, the client often drops into deep relaxation or falls asleep, and loud peristalsis may be heard. Both of these changes are indications of a profound release from stress and a shift towards parasympathetic influence. This shift could explain, in part, the common observation that a Bowen Technique session seems to reactivate the recovery process in situations where healing from trauma, sickness or surgery has stalled or reached a plateau.

Consultations

Homeopathy

I offer individual consultations from my Clinic at 56 Gore Street Murgon, or if needed I am able to make a home visit. Phone and Skype consultations are also offered.

A typical homeopathic initial consultation takes between 1-2 hours and requires a full patient and family history. Once the information is collected, I work through the symptoms to find the best remedy to suit the patient’s current situation.

A liquid remedy is usually made up as required and administrated as individually prescribed via drops under the tongue. This may be daily, every couple of days, weekly, monthly or as a once only dose.

Follow up consultations may take up to 1 hour. It is important to have at least one follow up appointment so that the remedy efficacy can be assessed and the prescription altered if needed. Acute consultations will take around half an hour.

Where postage of remedies is required, pillules will be used. A $10 minimum postage fee will be charged.

Bowen Therapy

I offer Bowen Therapy consultations from my Clinic at 56 Gore Street Murgon.

A typical session will take between half to 1 hour. You will be required to discretely remove restrictive upper and/or lower body clothing (not underwear), and you will be appropriately draped. Please wear loose fitting clothing (no jeans). All children must be accompanied by an adult.
