Hello. My name is Gloria Grace Wallace. I am an internationally experienced teacher, coach, healer, practitioner, performer, and presenter with 30 years in the fields of performance arts, education, learning strategies, healing, coaching, and self-development programs.

I offer a variety of services to address individual needs and my approach to healing may include a combination of therapies. Meditation is a key element of inner peace and wellbeing and I offer individual coaching and guidance in stress management and relaxation techniques. I am a Reiki Master / Teacher who promotes and teaches Reiki Healing. I offer Reiki Level One, Two and Three courses on a regular basis as well as one-on-one Reiki treatments.

What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a laying-on of hands healing technique thousands of years old. It is thought to have originated as a Tibetan Buddhist practice that was rediscovered in the late 1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. A very simple yet powerful technique that can be easily learned and applied by anyone.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words - Rei and Ki. Rei is the upper Japanese kanji character and Ki is the lower character.
Rei - Spiritual wisdom
Research that has been done into the esoteric meaning of the Japanese kanji character for Rei has given us a much deeper understanding of this ideogram. The word Rei as it is used in Reiki is more accurately interpreted to mean supernatural knowledge or spiritual consciousness. This wisdom comes from God or the Higher Self. This is the God-Consciousness, which is all knowing. It understands each person completely. It knows the cause of all problems and difficulties and knows what to do to heal them.
Ki - The life force
Ki means the same as Chi in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit and Mana in Hawaiian. Various cultures and civilizations that are aware of it have also given many different names for it. Ki is the life force. It is also called the vital life force or the universal life force. This non-physical energy that animates all living things.
As long as something is alive, it has life force circulating through it and surrounding it. When it dies, the life force departs. If your life force is low or if there is a restriction in its flow, your body's immune system will also be low and you will be more vulnerable to illness. When it is high and flowing freely the result is a high immune system whereby you are less likely to get sick. Life force plays an important role in everything we do. It animates the body and is the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life.
The Chinese place great importance on the life force, which they call Chi. They have studied it for thousands of years and have discovered there are many different kinds of Chi. The "Yellow Emperors of Classic Internal Medicine" which is over 4,000 years old, lists thirty-two different types of Chi.
Martial artists in their physical training and mental development use Ki. It is used in meditative breathing exercises called Pranayama and by the shamans of all cultures for divination, psychic awareness, manifestation and healing. Ki is the non-physical energy used by all healers. Ki is present all around us and can be accumulated and guided by the mind.

What is meditation?
Meditation is much more than simply relaxation: during relaxation the mind can wander uncontrollably, whereas during meditation the mind stays alert and focused. By using meditation to restrain the wanderings of the mind, we can bring ourselves back to full awareness and experience things as they really are.
How does meditation work?
Meditation is a time-honoured method of controlling the mind and there are literally thousands of different meditation exercises. Many of them have one thing in common- they start with a period of relaxation, then the mind is given one point of focus and concentrates on this and nothing else. Every time the mind tries to stray onto something else, it is gently but firmly brought back to the point of focus. Many people find this difficult to do at first, especially if they have been used to letting their minds wander without restraint, but most people can get over this with a little practice. Even if you manage a couple of minutes at a time, you will soon see results if you do it regularly.
What are the effects of stress?
Some stress is good for us: it motivates us to take action and can even help to save us from danger such as when we need the adrenaline pumped into our system to face an attacking tiger. But in normal life, we do not always have an outlet for stress; we cant run out of a difficult meeting, for example. Stress chemicals stay in the body, obstructing the digestive and immune systems and depleting our energy. The long-term effects of this can lead to serious illness.
