Dr Lisa comes to us with 15 years of community service experience, during which time she has been afforded the opportunity to interact with a broad section of society. During this time, Lisa noticed that a strong correlation between physical health and mental wellbeing, where one is weak, the other suffers and where one is strong, the other flourishes. It is from this realisation that Lisa pursued an education in Chinese medicine. Lisa has trained in Ericksonion hypnosis and personal coaching and after studying at Southern School of Natural Therapies, earning her Bachelor of Health Science Traditional Chinese Medicine, Lisa approaches her patients with personalised treatment and an holistic approach based on how a person presents on any given day. Using a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, bodyworks, diet and lifestyle advice, Lisa works to improve the overall health, wellbeing and quality of life for every individual she is fortunate enough to cross paths with. Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing which focuses on improving the overall wellbeing of the patient. Fine needles are inserted into the body at specific points. Originating in China, these points have been mapped out over 2000 years.

Traditional acupuncture is base on ancient Chinese theories of the flow of Qi (energy) through pathways called meridians that cover the entire body. By inserting special needles into acupuncture points, the energy in the meridian is stimulated and allows the free flow of Qi. This re-balancing can regulate harmonious energetic balance of the body, relieve pain and restore health.

Acupuncture Treatment

A lot of thought is put into selecting the points used for treatment. It depends on the nature of the problem, the age and severity of the condition. Needles are usually inserted from a few millimeters to 2 cm in depth. Sometimes you can feel cramping, heaviness, tingling or electric sensation near the needle or travelling along the energy pathway. However the pain is considered mild or minimal. During the treatment, the part of the body being worked on will be uncovered. The number of treatments depends on the duration, severity and nature of the complaint. Our acupuncturist, Dr Lisa Hart is covered under most private health funds and claims can be made using HICAPS at the clinic.
