Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a consultation take?
A visit with your acupuncturist may last from 30 to 45 minutes.
What will my acupuncturist do?
Your acupuncturist will ask you to complete a detailed Patient Information Sheet. Questions will be asked regarding symptoms, health and lifestyle. Your acupuncturist may also check your pulses, tongue and conduct a physical exam. This information is then collaborated to create a complete accurate and comprehensive diagnosis of where Qi has become blocked or imbalanced.
Is acupuncture safe?
Acupuncture is extremely safe. It is an all-natural, drug-free therapy yielding no side effects except for feelings of relaxation and well being.
Will the needles hurt?
Some people feel a little sensation as the needles are inserted, but most people feel no sensation at all. The needles are a little thicker than a cats whisker or a human hair.
What do I wear?
Loose comfortable clothing. Some reasonable removal of clothing may be required.
How long before I feel better?
Depending on your current health and symptoms, you may feel improved health immediately or you may require treatments for sometime to achieve desired results. Your acupuncturist can give you an idea of what to expect based upon your individual circumstances.
Am I able to claim my treatment from my health insurance?
Insurance coverage varies from fund to fund. Contact your insurance provider to learn what kind of care is covered.
