What Is Body Harmony?

Founded by American chiropractor Don McFarland, Body Harmony is a holistic modality which takes the client as the true source of healing, and their way as the path to that healing. It allows an individual to communicate with their body's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects, using bodywork, breath and movement to regain control over their situation and life per se.

To demystify its principle, McFarland dubs Body Harmony as an applied information technology for every human being's operating system. It aims to re-educate the tissues in the body and enable it to achieve its full potential.

What is Body Harmony?

How Does Body Harmony Work?

The healing session typically starts with the Body Harmony practitioner discussing with the client their current issues and goals. The latter will then be asked to walk while articulating the changes that they wish to achieve from the session. The practitioner observes the client to create an analysis relevant to the goals that the latter has set. They will take note of the client's body language in response to their spoken intentions.

The movements of a client while walking reveal how their emotional state and experiences have played out in their current situation or physical health. Using a bodywork system, the practitioner talks with the client's body, listening attentively to its unique story and helping it release the trauma that's been locked up in various tissues and organs for a long time.

What Can You Expect From Body Harmony?

A Body Harmony session typically lasts for one hour or an hour and a half. During the session, a discussion and assessment is made based on the client's body structure, function and alignment. The client is not aware of what the body is exhibiting, but the practitioner has been trained to see said changes and understand them.

Generally, a Body Harmony therapy session will progress to hands-on work on the treatment table. The client remains fully clothed and the treatment is non-invasive. This holistic therapy can also complement other therapeutic modalities and psycho-spiritual therapies.

Is Body Harmony Safe?

Body Harmony is safe and noninvasive, hence it's beneficial for anyone regardless of age and health condition. Even children and senior citizens who are suffering from physical challenges will benefit from the transformational experience they can only get from this complementary therapy.
