ABOUT US

Before becoming a meditation teacher Jo worked in rehabilitation managing people with physical injuries, anxiety and depression. When she switched to the role of mum she began to enjoy all that motherhood had to offer, although it wasn't as straightforward as she had anticipated!

With no family support, a husband who worked long hours and a disposition prone to worrying and overthinking, Jo came to realise she was battling the all too familiar signs of anxiety and depression in herself.

There was much to be grateful for and many good days, why then did life seem overwhelming? At times she found herself navigating the world feeling exhausted, irritable, indecisive, anxious, impatient, and guilty about feeling all of these things! Not sleeping well, coming up against repetitive thought patterns and the same old criticisms of herself.

Over time a downward spiral at home, a marriage in need of attention and a child also with anxiety, Jo was having to dig deep to support her family but ultimately found that it is hard to give when you've got nothing left in the tank.

With meditation increasingly recognised as a tool for greater wellbeing, she decided to give it a try. Starting out with a few different meditation techniques, she soon discovered Vedic Meditation and hasn't looked back.

Within weeks of practicing Jo was noticing a shift. Feelings of joy and contentment were creeping back into her life like some kind of sneaky magic... This idea that meditation is good for you was starting to ring true. She found herself flowing through the day with more energy, more ease and grace, more love and compassion for herself and those around her, more happiness and less snappiness!

Curious about how to fit this new daily practice into her life, it soon became clear that meditation does not take away time, because it refunds you back time in productivity. The only thing it takes away, is stress.

Vedic meditation is such a simple, easy and enjoyable technique which absolutely ANYONE can do. Jo now teaches mums, dads, creatives, corporates, athletes, kids - anyone seeking more calm, clarity, energy and wellness in their lives.

Jo became passionate about helping others experience the benefits of Vedic Meditation and trained as a teacher graduating in India in 2015. Now debunking the myth that meditation is difficult and creating awareness about how easy it can be, Jo is delighted to be helping anyone who gets the feeling meditation might be just what they need.

Why Medidate

Life requires energy
and energy is restored through rest.

In today’s modern world we are caught up in constant activity. Hyper-scheduling our days, our children's days, balancing work and family commitments with social lives, relationships, exercise regimes, paleo diets, hobbies and dreams! Forever ticking off the to-do list which grows back faster than bamboo. And on the rare occasion that we stop to rest or relax, this often includes a screen in front of our faces.

With this modern life, stress tension and fatigue accumulate in the nervous system. Over time we start to find ourselves unable to cope with the challenges life throws at us. Our physiology becomes locked in a state of ‘fight or flight”, with our adrenal glands pumping high levels of cortisone and adrenalin through the body to ensure we have the energy to keep up with our modern lives.

However this ‘fight or flight’ mode is meant for emergencies only. Our natural state is supposed to be that of a ‘resting state’. What does that mean? Imagine going about your day dealing with life’s demands in a more frequent state of calm and ease; so if anything urgent does occur, you can respond with speed and clarity.

Meditation is a very quick and easy way of gaining deep rest, allowing the body to move from ‘stress’ to ‘rest’ almost immediately.

Vedic Meditation

We are not trying to quiet our minds,
we are finding the quiet that is already there

Vedic meditation is a very simple and effortless mental technique practiced sitting comfortably in a chair with the eyes closed. There is no need to concentrate, focus, or clear your mind of thoughts. There is no need for earphones, books or devices. Once you have learnt the technique, it can be practiced anywhere, anytime.

Vedic meditation is also known as the householder technique due to the ease with which it can be incorporated into busy lives. It is enjoyed by millions of people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. Absolutely anyone (including children) can learn this simple technique in just a few short sessions.
