Trauma Integration Hypnotherapy
What is Trauma
Trauma is essentially any event in which your power and your choice has been taken away from you, where it has caused some sort of emotional or physical pain.
Trauma traditionally only includes large or ongoing events in your life (such as abuse, neglect, death of a loved one, natural disasters etc), but after working with hundreds of clients it has become obvious that this definition of trauma is too small.
It doesn't actually address most peoples definition of trauma, and that in itself can cause trauma.
When we were children, we all had needs that must be met. Chief among those are the need to feel loved and the need for connection with others. When these needs are not met, our mind creates beliefs that there are parts of us that aren't worthy, that don't have significance, that don't matter.
Beliefs Our Mind Creates *Trigger Warning*
When our needs are not met, our mind creates a belief that says "I must not be worthy". For example, If your parents work 2 jobs to have enough food to feed your family, as a very small child you don't understand the bigger picture, so your mind says "Work is more important than I am, therefore I'm not worthy".
This is even more difficult and confusing for children who have experienced trauma, because they often create an overlaying belief that says "I must not be worthy unless..."
For example, in cases of sexual abuse, the mind creates a belief that the victim is not worthy unless they are being abused, because this is the only time they get attention. Even though this is the wrong attention, and it's attention they don't even want, their mind creates this belief for them.
So not only does the victim create a belief that they aren't worthy unless they are being hurt, at the same time their mind is trying it's best to move them away from pain and towards pleasure.
Often these beliefs are created when we are very young, and are created when we have limited experience or limited information available. They are also created UNCONSCIOUSLY.
This means, they are created without our knowledge or awareness. We don't choose the belief, the mind does. This is often why our mind feels like it "has a mind of it's own" and why it feels like the mind "sabotages" us when we try to heal or make change in our life.
My job as a hypnotherapist is to work with you and your subconscious mind to find those beliefs and to reprogram them so that they no longer have any power over you.
We work together to create new beliefs with your mind that are the beliefs you choose. Beliefs that you ARE enough. Beliefs that you are SAFE in your current environment. Beliefs that you can TRUST yourself and your intuition to let you know when to move to safety.
What About I don't want to heal on some level
This is a great question, and it's something that I've been asked over and over again by past clients.
The reason your mind doesn't want you to heal from your trauma is because your mind is just doing it's job. Your mind's number 1 job is to keep you safe, and it does this by deciding what is going to cause you pain, and what is going to cause you pleasure, then moving you away from pain and towards pleasure.
For your mind to understand what is pain and what is pleasure, it rely's on information it has available.
So while your minds job is to keep you away from pain and move you towards pleasure, your job is to communicate with your mind to tell it what is painful and what is pleasurable.
There are only 3 things that have been keeping you back is:
- You were never taught how to communicate with your mind
- The information your mind had to work with (your past experiences) was painful
- You don't trust that you can identify unsafe environments
I work with my clients to trust themselves again and to communicate with their mind in the most powerful way to give them the most powerful results.
And when you can see what you can do with your mind, it makes the choice to heal much simpler.
Re-Wire Your Brain With Hypnosis
Hypnosis is method I use to re-wire your brain. It’s the easiest and fastest way to get to the root cause of your problems, because it allows you to communicate directly with the sub-conscious mind.
Your subconscious mind holds the key to resolving all of your issues. Your subconscious mind is the creative, waking mind. It never sleeps, it remembers everything, and it responds to the emotional self, which is why it is the creative mind.
The conscious mind is the critical thinking mind. This is the mind that deals in logic, that tells you "No, that's not possible, you can't run 100m in under 10 seconds!" (Usain Bolt did it in 9.58 seconds).
In hypnosis, we bypass the conscious mind, we allow it to go to sleep so that we can access your subconscious mind.
We then work together to understand how, why, when and where you formed your beliefs that are causing your problems today.
Once we understand your problem, you can literally re-wire your brain. Science shows us that we can create new neural pathways in the brain that cause us to form new habits and new beliefs, and the easiest way to access that part of our brain that creates new neural pathways is through hypnosis.
