My Approach
My approach to psychotherapy is one that integrates a number of different psychoanalysis tools and thus is integrative psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapy and draws from Jungian Analytical and Post-Jungian Psychoanalysis, Intersubjective Psychoanalysis, Contemporary Object-Relations, Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Self-Psychology. I also utilise interventions from other modalities such as Mindfulness Interventions, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), where necessary.
What Psychoanalytic Therapy Involves
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy typically involves an exploration of an individual’s emotional and inner life. This will be made up of different elements, discussing your life’s history and noteworthy relationships in your life, exploration of fantasies, emotions and dreams. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy looks at how the past repeats itself in one’s life and how unhelpful patterns of behaving and relating can impact upon living a meaningful and fulfilling life. This is conducted in a therapeutic, professional relationship that is respectful and empathetic.
