Facial Stiffness Relaxation Circulation Headaches Nurturing

My approach to massage is therapeutic, nurturing and holistic.  My aim is to treat your body as a whole, looking at where your pain and discomfort is originating and treating the pain at the source to not only alleviate the symptoms but also to help the body heal and repair itself.

I am a qualified and experienced remedial and sports massage therapist with over 8 years’ experience in the industry. I incorporate remedial, deep tissue, myofascial release and trigger point therapy techniques to help your body recover more quickly from injuries and/or muscle pain, optimise joint and muscle flexibility and to ensure you feel relaxed and restored at the end of the treatment.

I graduated from the Australasian College of Natural Therapies (ACNT) in 2007 with a Diploma of Remedial Massage, Diploma of Integrated Body Therapies and Certificate IV in Aromatherapy.  I have since undertaken further studies in advanced Myofascial Release techniques.  I also have a keen interest in meditation and spirituality.  I believe that my interest and practise in spirituality and meditation gives me a better understanding of the person as a whole, enabling me to give a thorough treatment for the body, mind and spirit.

Remedial/Deep Tissue Massage

Remedial massage targets specific areas of pain, injury, restriction or dysfunction to return the body to a state of harmony.  If you are suffering from any type of muscular pain, be it back pain, neck pain, headaches, decreased mobility (stiffness) or injury then a remedial massage will be of benefit to you.   It aids the body in its natural healing process by increasing circulation and blood flow to the muscles which delivers vital nutrients for healing.  A remedial massage treats the body holistically to not only alleviate your symptoms but also by tracing the pain back to its original cause.

Myofascial Release

“Myo” = muscle, “Fascia” = a sheet or band of fibrous connective tissue enveloping, separating, or binding together muscles, organs, and other soft structures of the body.

Myofascial release can help with a number of conditions, including chronic pain, headaches, and stress-related illnesses.  When injury, inflammation, or physical or emotional trauma occurs, the fascia can become tight, causing pain and/or restricted range of motion.  Myofascial release aims to release the fascia and return it to a state of normalcy by applying gentle pressure to the restricted areas.

What can you expect in a myofascial release treatment?

Myofascial release is different to remedial or deep tissue massage in that the techniques and strokes used are much slower and more subtle. Myofascial release techniques work by following the body’s own movements and releases rather than pushing hard for a particular response from the muscles.  It is a deeply relaxing form of therapy which can have a very profound healing effect on the body, mind and spirit whilst also feeling very gentle.  It can be used as a standalone treatment or can be incorporated into a remedial massage treatment.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is used as both a preventative and therapeutic treatment.   It targets the deeper layers of muscle tissue and can used for athletes/sports people during warm ups, training and competition to aid in the prevention of injuries, help improve flexibility, range of motion, and performance.  It is also used post exercise to help the body recover more quickly from physical stress and/or injury.

Relaxation/Swedish Massage

A relaxation massage will not only help you to let go of everyday stresses and feel more relaxed but a regular massage will also help to promote better health.  Physical, emotional and mental balance and clarity often result from a therapeutic massage treatment.

Swedish massage utilises long flowing rhythmic strokes to improve circulation, increase blood flow, promote normal sleeping patterns and release tension and spasm in the back, neck and whole body.

If you’re feeling stressed, tired, achy or just generally fatigued then come and see me for a truly therapeutic massage treatment where I will melt your cares away and help you feel restored and renewed.
