What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese word which describes the Universal Life Force Energy. This energy is applied via a hands-on treatment procedure. Reiki is a complete system of healing that seeks to harmonise the mind, body and spirit. It is not associated with any specific religious practices or beliefs.

A Reiki Treatment
A treatment will usually take up to an hour and the client is fully clothed and lying face up on the treatment table. Typically the practitioner will follow a series of traditional hand placements to transfer the healing energy to the client, but these may be modified to suit the client’s health, age, mobility etc. During the treatment, the client often feels a peaceful, warm and nurturing energy and is likely to feel more calm, relaxed and balanced at the end.
At the conclusion of the hour-long session, the client may be offered a glass of water, however, normally there is no discussion about matters arising during the treatment as the Reiki practitioner is not a trained counsellor. When appropriate, the Reiki practitioner may refer the client to other healthcare professionals for specialized treatments.
