Welcome to Kusala Health
Full Mind Body Consult
This treatment involves Holistic counselling, and diagnostic tools to determine the correct remedy to aid you on your path to health.
The Holistic Counselling is designed to reach and expose the root cause of the issue presented, and learn how you can best deal with these issues. The Holistic Counselling is a non-directive, and non-advisory service, and this is because the aim is to guide our clients to their own understanding, and own healing pathway, be the problem a physical problem, an emotional problem, a nutritional problem or the result of stress. Having said that, it is the job of the Holistic Counsellor to help you identify lifestyle changes that will aid you in your healing journey.
Holistic Counselling therapy, can and often does require long term treatment, and multiple visits. This is where the Diagnostic tools are implemented to discover “subconscious” indicators with which we can prescribe the correct remedy to help get you through critical times, and help you learn how to deal with issues presented during Holistic Counselling sessions.

Reiki is a non-invasive, gentle, yet powerful method of healing. Reiki energy, (often described as `universal life energy' ) is accessed by the practitioner during a treatment. It enhances the body’s natural healing ability and promotes wellbeing.
It is increasingly accepted in health and community care facilities including hospitals, hospices and cancer support units. For example, at the “Solaris Cancer Support Centre”,at Sir Charles Gairdner hospital in Perth, Reiki is the most used complementary health treatment for cancer and leukaemia patients.
While Buddhism may not be seen as a healing modality in its own right, I believe it has huge health benefits, both mental and physical.
Many scientists, and even many medical professionals believe that disease begins in the mind, before it ever manifests in the physical body.
So besides the well documented benefits of following even a few Buddhist principles, (meditation, mindfulness, awareness, compassion, etc), there is a growing body of scientific evidence to support the health benefits of Buddhism on your physical body.
If you had a go at the experiment on the first page of this website, you may have already witnessed in a very simple way, how the mind can effect the physical.
Buddhism is basically about controlling ones mind, and becoming free from cravings and delusions, in whatever form they may come. When we can control our mind, our body will usually follow.
In Basic Buddhism, I can teach you basic meditation, and basic Buddhist principles. Both of these will benefit you in ways you never though possible. And my hope is, you will find greater peace, and better health.
And I promise no Dogma, no Rules, and no Religion.
Who Am I?
My name is Clark Robertson. I am originally from Scotland, and have travelled to many places all over the world. I moved to Australia over 8 years ago, which is my second time round, and I intent to stay this time.
My journey into Alternative Medicine, began a few decades ago, after meeting someone, who changed my whole life view. I was probably like many others who thought that doctors were the only way to take care of our health, and the medical profession was only there to help us. I believed that if you became ill, the only option was drug therapy, or surgical procedures. I believed that the food we ate must be good for us, and everything the food industry told us was honest, and correct. I believed a lot of things, as the majority of us do, but there had been a seed planted in my mind, that made me question they way things were. To many things did not make sense, and too many things just seemed wrong.
I felt this way for many years, but it was not until about 7 or 8 years later, that this change in my view of life changed dramatically, and forever.
About 23 years ago, I was diagnosed with an illness called Ulcerative Colitis. Until that time in my life, I ate the same as most of you still do today. I had the occasional drink, but never to excess. And I dabbled a little in recreational drugs. My attitude towards health and medicine, was much the same of the majority of people, but with a hint of skepticism or the effectiveness of conventional medicine. I still went to the doctors, and took their medicines, and believed that if I got sick, my only alternative was to visit a doctor, just like everyone else. From life experience I had glimpsed at an alternative way of healing, which involved looking after oneself, and trying to live a lifestyle that prevented illness, instead of trying to cure it when we became ill.
So I was then, maybe a little like people are becoming now. Accepting of conventional medicine, and largely giving little thought to diet, exercise, and lifestyle. I was always skinny, and frequently got remarks about my weight. I was about 172cm tall, and 55 kilos.
Then I became ill with the disease mentioned above. My weight dropped rapidly to 42 kilos, and my knee joints became swollen, to the point where a 45 degree angle was all I could manage. I was 30 years old, but I looked, and moved like a 60 year old.
I followed the conventional medical route, and went to my doctor. He examined me, and to his credit, he diagnosed the disease immediately, after a short but painful examination. I returned back home to Glasgow, from Holland, as I eventually was too sick, and needed to stay with my family. I went to the family doctor, who referred me to a specialist at the hospital closest to my home. Which turned out to be the same hospital I was born in.
The specialist ordered some diagnostic tests, which confirmed the original diagnosis from the original doctor in Holland. After that, I went to visit the specialist to discuss the results of the test, and a treatment plan. To my shock and horror, I was told I would have to take drugs for the rest of my life, as the disease was chronic, and the drugs were simply to control the symptoms.
I followed the advice of the specialist, and after a few weeks I began to gain some weight, and started to feel better. I decided to return to Holland. I was referred to a specialist in my home town, who continued to monitor my situation, and take over my case.
After about 3 months, the symptoms started to return. When I reported this to the specialist, he informed me I would need to increase the dosage of the drugs I was taking from 24 tablets a day, up to 36. He then informed me that if that did not improve the symptoms, then in all probability I would require a colostomy, and I would spent the remainder of my life, with a colostomy bag attached to my abdomen.
Well that was enough for me. I refused to increase the dosage of the steroids, and other medication I was on, which were already taking their toll on my body. I decided to educate myself, and try to find an alternative to this dire prognosis.
I read as much as I could find about the Ulcerative Colitis. I took steps to learn alternative ways of healing. I visited a Homeopath for treatment. Then I changed my diet to a plant based diet and stopped eating any animal products whatsoever.
10 whole days after beginning this new regime of Alternative medicine, diet change, and lifestyle alterations, the symptoms had gone, and today 23 years later, they have never returned.
My 22 year old son was diagnosed with the same disease in 2009. Same symptoms as I had experienced just before he was born, which was eventually confirmed as Ulcerative Colitis, and he was told the same as I was told all those years ago, regarding the lifetime of medication.
I immediately helped him change his diet, and lifestyle. I prescribed the best quality “probiotics” I could find, and gave him some other remedies, and provided some counselling to help him come to terms with this illness, and its consequences.
To his immense credit, and my great pride, he gave up eating all animal products, and completely gave up any alcohol consumption. His symptoms lasted about 5 days, and he too has remained symptom free of this illness since he made these simple lifestyle and dietary changes, just over one year ago.
For these blessings, I want to do my very best to help as many people as I can, who want help. Be this through counselling, nutritional advice, or simply holding the hand of someone who needs it.
It may sound strange, but this illness, that both my son and I have suffered, is probably one of the best things that could have happened to us. I say this because it has made us the way we are today, and has changed the way we live our lives. And we both feel better for it. Sometimes life delivers something to us, and we have to decide what to do with that. So if life hands you something, you may not really like, or want. Just remember, it may be handing you a valuable, life changing lesson.
