Bringing Yoga to Mount Eliza




These feelings inform and guide our core teachings and practices at Lavana Yoga Mount Eliza, as we focus on helping students better connect to themselves and their surroundings. We offer a variety of classes ie; Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Flow, Yin, Prenatal and Kids Yoga...along with regular events workshops to help our community achieve optimum well being. Our vision at Lavana Yoga Mt Eliza is to empower those in our community who are willing to transform themselves physically, mentally and emotionally both on and off the mat.

Ultimately, our aim is to guide and teach practices which will quite literally change lives!



Classes

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga yoga practiced in its correct sequential order, gradually leads the practitioner to rediscover his or her fullest potential on all levels of human consciousness – physical, psychological and spiritual. Through this practice of correct breathing (ujjayi pranayama), postures (asanas), and gazing point (driste), we gain control of the senses and a deep awareness of ourselves. By maintaining this discipline with regularity and devotion, one acquires steadiness of body and mind.

Vinyasa Flow

This class is dynamic, explorative and challenging. Suitable for all levels it incorporates creative sequencing, anatomical focus areas and traditional teachings. As an energetic and rejuvenating class it will help to sculpt the body and release the mind. Our vinyasa flow integrates awareness and alignment while building strength, flexibility and core stability.

Yin Yoga

This class is a profoundly nurturing practice where the body is placed in supported positions often using a variety of props. As the body yields to the support all effort dissolves and the nervous system is calmed, physical tension and stress melt away and the mind becomes still and quiet. The aim of a restorative practice is to become present and to move towards a healthful sense of complete relaxation and flexibility. Your body and mind will thank you.

Flow and Let Go

Balance and restore with this yoga flow. It will aim to reset your mind and body. We will get grounded, melt away any tension as well as unblock stagnant energy via breathing, moving and concentration. You will build strength and flexibility which will be reflected in all areas of your life.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga or integrative hatha.
A fully integrative practice of traditional yoga techniques in a safe and supportive space. This class includes postures, breath, mudra (hand gestures), bandhas (body locks), chanting, relaxation and meditation to help strengthen and calm your mind and body.

Vinyasa Flow

Prenatal Yoga

Linking yoga postures with the breath will lead you to new discoveries, bringing awareness to the mind, body and and your baby. Classes are conducted in a calm, peaceful environment and aim to help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica.

Kids Yoga

A collaboration of yoga and occupational therapy. With our evidence based, holistic approach, we provide children not only with a valuable after school activity, but a dynamic mix of movement and meditation that helps enormously with personal connection. Working with parents and carers, we give focus to individualised goals for our kids. Whilst having heaps of fun, we're also targeting sensory processing, social skills and the tuning of motor skills! Kids remain remarkably engaged due to our person-centred approach and this leads to many positive developments in self regulation and confidence.

The classes will explore yoga through games, music and play. They will consist of traditional and modified yoga poses, breathing exercises, relaxation and visualisation.

It's a wonderful opportunity to develop gross motor skills, increase focus and concentration and learn breathing techniques for relaxation and increased emotional control.
