About Lee-Ann

Lee-Ann Fitzpatrick is a degree qualified Naturopath with 18 years clinical experience. Lee-Ann has been practicing in the Golden Grove area for the past 13 years and is dedicated to helping clients achieve their personal health goals. Lee-Ann’s main focus in clinic is to identify and address the underlying drivers of her client’s heath concerns. She is passionate about educating clients on making diet and lifestyle changes that are both realistic and specific to their individual needs. Lee-Ann advises clients on how to safely use herbal medicines and nutritional supplements to assist in the healing process and the further prevention of disease.

What to Expect

At your initial consultation with Lee-Ann a detailed health history will be taken. You will be asked questions about the main reason for your visit, your past medical history, your family history and your diet and lifestyle habits. If you have copies (or can obtain copies) of any recent or relevant test results, it is advised that you bring these along to your first consultation. Likewise, if you are taking any medications or supplements it is also advised that you bring these along with you.

After your initial assessment, Lee-Ann with devise an individualised treatment plan to help address your health concerns. If further testing is required then this will also be organised. As no two individuals are the same, your treatment plan will be unique to your needs and may involve dietary, lifestyle, herbal, and/or nutritional supplementation depending on your presentation.

Follow up Consultations

It is important to note that addressing your health from a holistic perspective takes time. While you may feel better after your first consultation, it is important to attend follow up consultations to monitor your progress and make the necessary ‘tweaks’ to your personalised treatment plan. One of the main focuses of Naturopathy is to help you understand your health and empower you to make the necessary changes to move towards your health goals. As you improve, follow up appointments will be booked further apart as you are better able to manage your health on your own.

Functional and Pathology Testing

Naturopathic practitioners often use functional pathology testing to investigate the biochemical, nutritional, metabolic and/or hormonal status of their client. This testing may give further insight into complex cases or add valuable information to help guide and monitor treatment. Likewise, standard pathology testing may also add valuable insight into an individual’s health status and risk of disease and may also be ordered.

VLA - Bio-Impedance Analysis (Body Composition Testing)

VLA stands for Vitality, Longevity & Healthy Ageing. A VLA analysis is an in clinic test that measures an individual’s body composition. Several biological markers of health are measured including muscle quantity and quality, fat mass, cellular fluid balance and hydration status. A VLA test can add valuable information as to an individual’s overall health status and can be used to track a client’s progress. Clients who may particularly benefit from a VLA analysis are those wanting to;

  • Monitor changes in muscle quantity and quality - to improve physical performance, strength, improve fat burning or monitor changes in muscle due to diet restrictions (ie vegan or vegetarian diet for instance).

  • Lose body fat….with weight loss it is important that an individual is losing body fat and not valuable muscle.

  • Monitor cellular health - this can be particularly useful when working on reducing inflammation.

  • Monitor hydration

  • Monitor cellular fluid balance - especially if fluid retention is a problem.

Clients will receive an explanation and copy of their VLA report. Subsequent tests can then be compared with previous test results to monitor progress.

Food Detective™ - IgG Food tolerance testing

Food Detective™ is a blood test that screens for the presence of food antibodies (IgG) in a small blood sample taken from a simple finger prick test. Just 2 mls of blood is required and the test is conveniently carried out in the clinic. This test can be useful for individuals who suspect they are experiencing food intolerance symptoms or who may have multiple food sensitivities. This sort of testing is not necessary for most clients but can be a valuable screening tool for some individuals.
