In our culture we are used to linking intelligence with the brain. But that cerebral dominance is beginning to change as we begin to understand more about the importance of the primal connection that’s exists between our gut and our brain.

We often refer to our “gut feeling” when we are introduced to someone for the first time. We are told to “trust our gut instinct” when making a difficult decision or that it is “gut check time” when faced with a situation that will test our determination and nerve. This gut-mind connection is not simply metaphorical. Our gut and brain are connected by an elaborate and extensive network of neurons and a highway of hormones and chemical hormones that constantly provide feedback about how hungry we are, whether or not we are experiencing stress, or if we have made the correct decision.

Focusing is a way to bring you back in touch with the larger intelligence inside you, an intelligence that is body-based and that can sense what needs your attention, it is a part of yourself that you can follow and trust.

Using Focusing, you will learn to be the with your emotions, as opposed to being your emotions, and this allows them to efficiently change. Your feelings, even some of your most difficult and most challenging feelings, will no longer be the enemy within when you can be with yourself with compassion and empathy.

Focusing can help you in a variety of different ways, in a highly stressful period, when you are working through a difficult patch in a relationship, to transform beliefs or patterns, for physical or emotional healing and more.
