Chinese Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicines treatments utilise raw herbs which are boiled in water over a certain period, with the subsequent broth reduced to concentrate the active ingredients which are then taken as a liquid tea. Herbal medicine can also be taken in different forms, such as in a pill or granule.
Acupuncture is a healing modality that works to stimulate the innate healing abilities of the body. The fine, sterile needles used are placed along specific areas of the body to improve the flow of Qi (universal life force energy). Doing this will improve the flow of energy, blood, and help remove toxins in the body. Acupuncture works well with other treatments such as moxibustion, massage, cupping, heat therapy, or herbal medicine.
Cupping sees small glass or plastic cups being used as suction devices which are placed on specific areas of the body for a short period of time. The cups will draw out the toxins and negative energy in the body, stimulating the body’s innate healing responses and the release of stagnant toxins and blood.
Moxibustion is a kind of heat therapy where the dried plant “moxa” is burned around the surface of the skin. The warmth emitted stimulates the flow of Qi in the body and rids the body of dampness and cold.
Tui Na in Traditional Chinese Medicine is therapeutic massage and bodywork. Tui Na is designed to work on specific issues and to restore balance and is not usually used for relaxation and pleasure.
