Massage – Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is a specialist massage technique that focuses on realigning the muscles and connective tissues. The strokes used are slower and the pressure applied is deeper than with a relaxation massage. Specific hand positions and strokes are used to respond to various tissues while breath and movement techniques are used to release muscular congestion. The purpose is to unstick the fibres of the muscles and release both toxins and tension points.

Deep tissue massage helps to relieve pain and over time help restore more normal movement. It is both corrective and therapeutic.

This type of massage focuses on specific areas and may cause some soreness during or after the session. You should feel better within a day or two.

Massage – Remedial

Remedial massage addresses restrictions in the soft tissues of the body, correcting muscle imbalances that cause pain and dysfunction.

A standard treatment will usually start with a postural analysis to establish whether there is any muscle shortness or weakness, and then the treatment will work to correct these imbalances with hands on techniques combined with stretching and recommendations.

Conditions that can be treated include:


  • headaches and migraines

  • lower back and sciatic pain

  • sacroiliac joint pain and dysfunction

  • tendonitis, tendonosis, muscle strains & ligament sprains

  • frozen shoulder, impingement and other shoulder pain

  • achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis

  • muscle fatigue and stress


Massage – Sports

Sports massage involves pre event and post event massage, maintenance massage and the treatment and prevention of sporting injuries.

Any sport or performance requires repetitive use of certain muscles and these become tight and sore. It is important to flush out these muscles providing good blood flow to remove any toxins and provide new nutrients to the tight and tired muscles.

Pre event massage is to loosen up and prepare body for the event or game.

Post event massage it is to facilitate recovery and decrease muscle soreness.

Maintenance massage is a general deep massage designed to loosen the muscles used a lot.

Sports massage:


  • reduces the chance of new injuries

  • improves strength, stamina, flexibility

  • increases flexibility, stride length

  • improves running times, handicap

  • pre and post event massage improves performance
