Gwenda Cannard teaches meditation and relaxation classes and stress management coaching. Small friendly ‘Learn to Meditate’ mindfulness meditation classes are held in Preston at The SAM Centre. Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy groups are held regularly at ARCVIC in Surrey Hills. Stress management individual coaching is available at Ringwood, Preston, Kew or by Skype or phone. Gwenda Cannard

I am the Director of Life Minded and a Meditation and Relaxation Teacher and Life Coach – specialising in stress management.

I have a long interest in the study and practice of meditation including yoga, Buddhism and secular mindfulness meditation as propounded by Dr John Kabat -Zinn. I consider myself fortunate to have attended the 7 day residential training provided by Drs John Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli when they visited Australia in 2009. For many years I was the CEO of a not for profit organisation providing counselling for people with anxiety, depression and addiction to prescription tranquillisers. In this role, I taught meditation and relaxation widely, and co-facilitated Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy groups for five years. I have extensive experience developing and running stress management training and workshops. I am a qualified Life Coach and in 2015 I completed Level 1 training in iRest® Yoga Nidra.

I have been teaching meditation and relaxation classes and personal coaching at my former yoga and meditation studio and at the SAM Psychology Centre for the past three years; and currently also co-facilitate Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy groups with clinical psychologist Dr. Wendy Knight at ARCVIC (Anxiety Recovery Centre Victoria).

I am a firm believer in the benefits of meditation in helping us to increase our self-knowledge and awareness; leading to greater control over thoughts and emotions and increased acceptance, calmness and happiness. Yoga has been an integral part of my life on and off for over 30 years and I have enjoyed a regular meditation practice for more than 12 years.

It is a great joy for me to have the opportunity to pass on the skills of meditation with a little humour and fun, and to share the challenges and benefits that I have experienced on the meditation path.
