Over the last 20 years, Louise has studied various modalities and attended courses, continually adding research and knowledge to her Practice.
Her treatment approach works with the natural inherent wisdom of the body . This enables the body to recover from situations that have caused the body to operating from default to dysfunctional patterns. Often these patterns are Survival based patterns.
Louise asks,
"Who are we? What is the natural wisdom within us? and how do we awaken and access this powerful healing mechanism?"
This questioning has resulted in developing a unique approach which involves treatment of not only the physical but the physiological (such as heart/lung and gut organ retraining), mental, emotional, environmental and spiritual. Louise is particularly interested in how the body does and doesn't recover from shock and trauma and how we get locked into certain patterns. This can present in a wide variety of symptoms such as persistant knee pain, poor digestion,TMJ pain, impaired lung function, headaches - in other words the body is out of balance.
A "whole body" approach is required for treatment as the template for health already exists in every person, however we have defaulted or reflexed to survival patterns which involve every aspect of our being.
This wisdom can't be accessed from traditional 'fight or flight' survival patterns. Some of the simple and effective practices Louise teaches her patients allow the body to remember what it already knows. Yes the brain - and heart can really change itself. With this in mind, it is not just a passive treatment and may require patient-practitioner interaction such as learning certain breathing/sensory awareness.
With regards to mental and emotional health, the greatest leaps forward in treatment, will be when the the words mental and emotional are dropped to encompass whole health - depression and anxiety have absolutely physical, environmental and physiological aspects that need to be given more than lip service.
Although there is much debate on the impact of humans on the environment the reverse also needs to be considered. With the mainstream use of computers and other flat screens, we need to retrain our eyes to encompass things such as depth perception. Also as our eyes are a significant part of our survival mechanisms ( the so called fight flight mechanism) we need to literally treat our eyes to reduce the amount of stress human beings are experiencing. This is just one example of a broad approach for the treatment of stress that is endemic in our society.
