About Me - Barbara Whiddon

Barbara (Sevashakti) is an accredited Satyananda Yoga teacher who has practiced her yoga for over 15 years. A typical yoga class by Barbara includes asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practices) and/or a short meditation practice, as well as a short Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation) practice. Barbara presents these intrinsic yoga practices in a systematic and flexible way which promotes greater awareness in the student and works towards evolving the student physically, mentally, energetically and spiritually.

These classes are especially suitable for those who want a quiet space to stretch and gently strengthen their bodies as well as to connect with their inner world. Emphasis during the class is placed on the student’s own experience and sense of wellbeing. Barbara specialises in creating a calm, non-competitive and peaceful environment in which to practice.

Why practice yoga? Regular practice promotes greater awareness in every aspect of your daily life as well as promoting and maintaining physical dexterity, flexibility, strength and relaxation. Over time, regular practitioners will gain experience in the more subtle realms of the human existence, such as adaptability, resilience, prana and a sense of your own spirituality.

Yoga Classes

Monday night yoga at Mary Mackillop House, Lyneham, ACT
Term 2, 2017

LYFEvolution Yoga is a wholistic style of yoga in the Satyananda tradition. It is aimed at evolving the student through increasing awareness - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Each class consists of a balanced range of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing practices) and or a short meditation practice, and Yoga Nidra (relaxation practice).
After completing each class the students are left feeling better about themselves for having moved their bodies and far less stressed about the challenges of life because of the sense space and reprieve they’ve created for their mind.

Monday night classes are suitable for beginners and progressive students and everyone is very welcome.

Venue: Mary MacKillop House and Conference Centre, 50 Archibald Street, Lyneham, ACT
Day: Monday evenings
Time: 6pm -7.30pm
Dates: 1 May - 26 June 2017 (9 weeks)
