Maroondah - Exercise Physiology

Accredited exercise physiologists (AEPs) have undergone a 4 year degree and are classified as allied health professionals. They are experts and specialise in the delivery of exercise for the management of prevention of injuries and chronic diseases. AEPs offer support for clients who are presenting a range of different conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. AEPs are also eligible to register with Medicare Australia, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and WorkCover and are recognised by most if not all private health insurers.

An AEP will help you to:

  • Overcome persisting pain caused by overuse or injury

  • Help control your diabetes

  • Improve your overall wellbeing and health

  • Improve the health of your heart

  • Improve your recovery following a cancer treatment

AEPs likewise provide training in safe manual handling; conduct assessments of the musculoskeletal system; perform functional assessments; and offer lifestyle advice and education to assist people manage their own personal health conditions. They specialise in graded exercise therapy and lifestyle interventions for individuals who may be at risk of developing, or with existing chronic and complex conditions and injuries.
