Welcome. My name is Melissa and I am passionate about assisting people in reaching their potential by supporting them in working through life's challenges. This is particularly relevant as we continue to navigate challenges post pandemic and after the disruptions during lock downs etc. I work with people from all walks of life including those interested in alternative health and diverse lifestyles and spiritual traditions.

Values Emotions Anxiety Burnout Work stress Loss

I am a Psychologist with 23 years of experience working as a Counsellor in numerous community settings and in private practice. I have worked extensively with people of all ages and from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Presenting issues may include; self esteem and personal empowerment, stress management, self-care strategies, assertiveness, relationship issues, trauma including PTSD, mindfulness/meditation, and managing difficult emotions; eg grief and loss, depression, anger, and anxiety.

I offer support to women and their partners around fertility issues including trying to conceive naturally and with IVF, and grief associated with miscarriage, or inability to conceive. Support through pregnancy and dealing with expectations particularly where "things haven't gone to plan" regarding birth, breastfeeding and having a newborn are a special interest. I believe in greater transparency about the transition to parenthood and the joys and challenges that having a baby or young children can bring to women and their families.

I am comfortable working with transgender, bisexual, and same sex attracted clients and have significant experience in these areas.

I have run groups on various issues including conflict resolution, assertiveness, managing anger constructively, in depression and anxiety, and supporting women who've experienced family violence.

Additionally I have helped produce a relaxation and visualisation CD aimed to assist people with anxiety and stress.

An ongoing passion is in the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which is a values based approach to assisting people in achieving a rich full and meaningful life despite experiencing difficult and painful emotions and thoughts.

My approach is non-judgemental, humanistic, client centred, and outcome informed.

I am registered for the Medicare Benefits Scheme which provides up to 10 sessions per calendar year and substantial rebates for clients.

I am also registered with most private health funds.
Additionally I work with clients referred through VOCAT, TAC, Workcover, and other programs.

I am currently practicing exclusively online and via phone with Telehealth from my home based practice in Upwey in the Dandenong Ranges Victoria, using a very secure platform called Coviu specifically designed for Health Professionals.

I look forward to the opportunity to accompany you in your journey to greater health, happiness and personal awareness.
