Michael holds a Bachelors Degree from RMIT University and completed 9 months of Clinical Internship training in China. He has been practicing Chinese Medicine and treating clients in Melbourne for the past 16 years.

Chinese Medicine (CM) has a 2000 year history of practice, It is recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a valuable resource in the treatment of many common medical ailments. It has been practised in Australia since colonisation and has gained acceptance worldwide since the 1970s.

What is the lifelong health in CM terms?

Humans, having evolved from nature must continually adapt to the present environment and society, thus we all have to maintain a 'life balance' between our spiritual, emotional, physical and material needs. Prolonged stress and imbalance will result in ill health and premature aging.

Qi or 'vital energy' flows in the body by way of acupuncture channels warming, circulating and assisting all of life's processes. CM has natural treatments that can improve or strenghten the bodies vital energy and body-mind processes.

Thus the secret to lifelong health is to 'keep the balance'...

How do we maintain our health naturally?

Health, vitality and disease prevention is maintained by mind/body and lifestyle balance, learning to calm the mind, have a positive attitude, loving relationships, special exercises and balanced diet.

If needed CM treatments aim to regain the body's internal balance. The cause is found and symptoms such and pain, discomfort and physical disability treated. Practical with few side effects CM enhances your own healing and recovery. Western medicine is always considered in your treatment course.

What does treatment involve?

A consultation and treatment lasts ½ hour to 1 hour. Treatment and education may include, acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, lifestyle advice, diet therapy, breathing and exercise techniques.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of treatments you will require depends on the type and length of illness, age and constitution.

Initial treatment often brings immediate relief however a course of treatment is required for optimal recovery.

OUR TREATMENTS

Acupuncture involves inserting very fine sterile needles into the skin at specific acu-points on the body for about 15-20 mins. The aim is to stimulate and or restore the flow of Qi to the selected area, relieving pain and promoting internal function and balance. It is effective for many common ailments. ACUHEALTH needle free acupuncture device is available for children or if don’t like needles.

REBOX electrotherapy unit is used in rehabilitation, sports medicine and in pain relief. The effect is local tissue detoxification, muscle relaxation, increased blood circulation, tissue healing and pain relief.

Electro-acupuncture is a form of acupuncture where electrodes are placed on acupuncture needles and mild current is applied. Specifically its used to relieve acute and chronic pain, post stroke rehabilitation and chronic ailments.

Chinese Herbal Medicine is specifically prescribed to treat your ailment. Herbs are available in tincture, powder, pills, granules, syrups and teas. Concentrate formulas are a convenient alternative to traditional raw herbs. Herbal prescriptions are mailed to you with full instructions usually before meals, twice daily.

Chinese Massage is the manipulation of the body’s soft tissues and joints using acu-pressure & massage to promote recovery and healing. Regular body massage can release both physical and emotional tension, gradually restoring the body to what should be a natural state of health.

Cupping involves placing warmed glass cups on the joints and back region to ease spasm and pain associated with arthritic conditions, workplace and sports injuries.
