Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine is also practiced.

Tui Na or Chinese medical massage has a long history of over 2000 years of practice, refinement and completes the fifth branch of Chinese medicine: Acupuncture, Herbal medicine, Tai chi/Qi gong exercise and diet/lifestyle therapy.

Tui Na massage and treatment employs the theory and practise of Chinese medicine and thus differs from other types of massage as it is used to treat internal disorders as well as musculo-skeletal ailments. Thus a thorough under-standing of Chinese medicine theory and practice, body acupuncture points-channels is essential in the diagnosis and success of treatment.

What is involved?

For Acute, chronic and internal ailments, approx 60 minutes is required initially for a detailed patient history and examination. A treatment plan is then formed depending on the nature of your ailment (approx 4 to 6 treatments). Thereafter Tui Na usually requires approx 30-40 minutes of treatment often in a lying or sitting position and in quiet ambient surroundings.

Tui Na is also recommended for periodic mind-body maintenance, (6-8 times a year) Frequency of visits depends on your work, stress levels, constitution, age and response.

A wide range of specialized and safe massage techniques are applied. For example, soft or deep tissue acupressure kneading, handrolling massage over a cotton sheet & joint mobility stretches. Herbal liniments, plasters may also be applied.

‘Rebox’ electro-therapy is a safe unique form of ‘needle free’ treatment developed in Europe using a blunt edged probe, that when applied to the local body area and acu-point:

    • Alleviates pain, spasm & joint/muscle stiffness.

    • Rapidly improves local Qi & blood circulation hence swelling.

    • Neutralizes lactic acid built up in sore muscles and joints after sport or exertion thus aiding recovery time.

In addition, Michael can prescribe acupressure, self massage, breathing and movement exercises based on Tai Chi-Qi Gong and lifestyle/dietary advice and herbal medicine therapy.

What are the benefits?

Together with regular Tui Na these safe and simple exercises are potent methods to:

    • Calm the mind & relieve anxiety.

    • Improve your concentration, co- ordination and balance.

    • Bolster your immunity defence hence vitality .

    • Stimulate Qi-blood flow throughout the body and acupuncture channels.

    • Relieve muscular tension and joint stiffness by increasing oxygen to the vital organ centres.

Practice makes perfect!

Regular Tui Na as prescribed and exercise practice (3-5 times weekly) is required over several weeks for effective benefits and you are empowered to take charge of your own health!

Lifelong dedication to these principles of health and you can develop inner calm, focus, confidence and prolonged health.
