Relaxation Massage

What is relaxation massage, how is it performed, and why do I need it?

Relaxation massage is, as you guessed it, put in the most simplest of terms, a therapeutic therapy based on relaxing your body. But relaxation massage can be so much more, it is also just good for the soul.

At Move Body and Health Therapy Traralgon our Massage Therapist will tailor your massage to suit you. Your session will contain a brief discussion of any problem areas that may be feeling tight or overworked that you would like attention paid to during your visit.

Besides all the other benefits of massage, relaxation massage can help to;

  • Change the internal dialogue, stop negative thinking and unhelpful self-talk

  • Disconnect from your anxieties and bring back what is important

  • Feel comfortable in your skin

  • Heighten your capacity for clarity of thought

  • Restore a sense of control in your life

  • Stop the heightened state of alertness in your mind and body

Remedial Massage

What is remedial massage and how is it performed?

Remedial massage therapy is everything that relaxation massage is and more; more focused, more targeted, and more invigorating. The techniques used however can be very different from relaxation massage. Remedial massage therapy is used to assess and treat an ache, injury, or a persisting condition where you may have a soft tissue dysfunction causing you pain or causing you restrictions on your movement. Our therapist will work with you on finding the cause of these problems and correcting them with a series of therapies.

Remedial massage is applied by using a combination of techniques and will vary depending on your issue. Common techniques used at Move Body and Health Therapy include; soft tissue massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, muscle energy release technique, active release technique, passive release technique, positional release technique, mobilisation, and stretching.

Myotherapy

What is myotherapy and how is it performed?

Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions such as, but not limited to; sciatica, non-specific back pain, whiplash, tennis elbow, carpel tunnel, shoulder impingement. It is a more targeted approach, assessing the cause of your pain and creating a treatment plan to encourage your body’s return to normal function.

Myotherapy is applied by using a combination of techniques and will vary depending on your complaint and findings. Common techniques used at Move Body and Health Therapy include; soft tissue massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, muscle energy release technique, active release technique, passive release technique, positional release technique, mobilisation, dry needling, cupping and stretching.

Cupping

Why should you consider cupping?

Cupping helps relieve pain with minimal discomfort improving your posture and range of motion and can be used as an alternative therapy to remedial massage or myotherapy. Cupping is beneficial for treating an injury, or a persisting condition where you may have a soft tissue dysfunction causing you pain or causing you restrictions on your movement.

Please let us know if you have any of the following when booking your appointment (Areas of the body may be avoided or treatment may need to be substituted for a more suitable technique for precaution):

  • Varicose veins

  • Broken skin or ulcerative sores (current or recent)

  • Areas of inflammation or swelling

  • Haemophilia

  • Taking blood thinning medication - Anticoagulant medication
