Stress Management Alternative medicine Love Aches & pains Nervous system Lifestyle

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a gentle technique and will promote a sense of relaxation. The Swedish Technique is a flow of gentle soft strokes that will relax mind body soul, improve blood flow and gently promote the lymphatic drainage process. This type of massage is suited to those wishing to relax and unwind.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy Massage is usually offered when booked in for a Swedish massage. Aromatherapy is a blend of scents that the therapist will recommend to compliment your treatment

How does aromatherapy work?

When oils are inhaled or absorbed through the skin the essential oil molecules transmits messages to the limbic system (part of the brain that controls emotions and influences the nervous system and the hormone system, in turn this transmits the release of hormones to stimulate stress levels, cardiovascular system, respiratory, digestion, and the immune system.

Pregnancy Massage

Antenatal massage is using the Swedish technique but using non-scented and non-absorbed based oil. Body position is important in order to maximize the effectiveness of the massage and to fully gain its benefits as some women cannot lye flat, therefor the table is adjusted and pillows are used to support mum and bub during the massage. Pregnancy massage is suitable anytime provided you are not in a high-risk pregnancy category at which you and the therapist will discuss prior to your treatment.

Stone Massage

A stone massage follows the Swedish technique and incorporates water-heated soft surface stones coated in oil and applied to the body using various massaging strokes. This type of massage is suited to those wishing to relax and unwind.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is helpful for chronic aches and pains such as stiff neck and shoulders, lower back pain, and leg muscle tightness; the pain is caused by the bands of ridged tissue blocking circulation, limiting movement and causing muscular inflammation (to name a few effects). Deep tissue massage applies more direct deep pressure and movement that will break down the adhesions to restore normal movement. There may be some discomfort during this massage therefore communication between client and therapist on pain threshold will always be communicated during the massage. Deep tissue massage is only recommended for specific injury, rehabilitation, and deep muscular discomfort or tightness from sports.

Myofascial Trigger Point

Trigger points are hyperirritable form of solid bumps found in the deep muscle fibers that can cause pain, restricted movement, and tightness. Trigger Therapy can release the pressure in the effected area to support normal musculoskeletal motion. The therapist will locate and apply pressure to the trigger area for a period of time to deactivate the trigger, in turn easing the pain. As specific pressure is applied the pain radiates in a distribution specific to the muscle harboring the trigger point. This treatment is incorporated into a deep tissue massage where chronic pain is occurring.
