Oncology massage is for those currently undergoing cancer treatment or with a history of cancer. It is massage specifically tailored to you and your unique situation by a therapist trained in the complexities of compromised systems.
What is Oncology massage?
If you have previously enjoyed the benefits of Massage then there is no need to stop just because of a cancer diagnosis. Oncology massage is the adaptation of massage treatment which can be safely performed on those living with the complications of cancer and cancer treatment.
It is important to have a therapist that has an informed understanding of the disease itself and the many ways it can affect the human body; the side effects of cancer treatments, such as medications, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation; and the ability to modify massage techniques in order to adapt for these side effects.
I have undertaken specialised Oncology Massage Training (OMT Level 4) which incorporated clinic time at the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre and training at the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg, Victoria. I am currently accredited to attend St.John of God Hospital Ballarat to provide treatment for inpatients.
