When visiting for the first time, a full case history will be taken as well as an examination. This generally requires the removal of some clothing and the performance of a simple series of movements.

The philosophy of Osteopathy is to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. It places emphasis on the relationships between the body's structure, framework and function, focusing on the body's ability to heal itself.

Do You Need A Referral From Your GP?

Osteopaths are primary care practitioners and as such you can make an appointment without a referral. Medicare rebates are available to cover a portion of the cost of osteopathic treatment under the Chronic Disease Management Plan (formerly EPC), which will require a GP referral.

Osteopathy & Private Health Cover

Most private health insurers offer refunds on osteopathic treatment, with the amount refunded being dependent on the insurer and your level of cover. HICAPS is a service that offers the reimbursement of your refund at the time of payment. To find out if you are covered for osteopathic treatment by your insurer and if HICAPS is available to you, you may contact your health fund directly.
