ABOUT US

Hi! My Name is Francisco.

I was born in Timor Leste and migrated to Australia in 1982. Professionally, I have worked in different industries and due to health reasons, I started my naturopathic journey for the sake of my health and a career change in my profession. It has been an eye opener since the beginning, and I’m still learning the wonders of natural medicine. I completed my Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy with Australian Institute of Applied Sciences (AIAS). I enjoyed it so much that I continued to deepen my knowledge with Australasian College of Natural Therapies (ACNT) by taking the Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy). Now a different direction of my journey begins. As a Naturopath, I’m passionate to bring this naturopathic knowledge to the broad public to help them improve and enjoy a good quality life.

The Role of A Naturopath

A Naturopath is a holistic practitioner who prescribes herbal medicine, nutrition and flower essences. These elements support the body’s own healing processes. At North Brisbane Naturopathy, we focus on the body’s healing ability by strengthening and supporting the systems and organs. From this perspective, a Naturopath is not treating only symptoms but addressing the underlying causes of disease. Other important elements a Naturopath integrates to the naturopathic treatment are dietary and lifestyle habits.

Consultations

Consultations begin with a detailed case history following a discussion of presenting complaints and the body system involved with the presenting complaint. Then a systematic review of the body systems if required. The assessment also considers a person’s physical, emotional, mental & spiritual health. Blood test results will be assessed if you have taken one recently. Medications and supplements that you may currently be taking please bring these with you to the consultation.

Initial treatment

This stage is typically where most people begin their naturopathic care. The primary focus at this stage is to reduce your symptoms and to stabilise your condition

Maintenance and supportive treatment

The second stage of treatment is where we focus on treating the underlying cause of your condition. Whilst your symptoms may have been alleviated, the objective is to ensure that we can eliminate the cause of your symptoms.

Lifecycle treatment

In addition, patients seek treatment during important life cycle stages such as pregnancy, birth and labour, breastfeeding, puberty or palliative care.

Treatment support

Throughout your treatment, you may be recommended various supplements, herbal medicines or other medicines. Liquid herbal medicines are formulated on the spot and contain a unique formulation. These medications are specific for your presentation and have been carefully selected for your individual requirements.

WHAT DO I PROMOTE AS A NATUROPATH?

The work of a Naturopath is to promote wellness by identifying the unique aspects of each individual and the use of natural remedies to restore health and balance.

Ask About Your Nutrition

Nutrition is the science that interprets the interaction of nutrients and other substances in food in relation to maintenance, growth, reproduction, health and disease of an organism. It includes food intake, absorption, assimilation, biosynthesis, catabolism and excretion. Every day you make food choices that influence your body’s health for better or worse.

Western Herbal Medicine

A holistic form of medicine, Western herbal medicine is derived from Anglo-American and European traditional healing philosophies and practices. It focuses on the whole person and optimises health, rather than focussing on the symptoms and the disease. Recent interest in herbal medicine has increased and the therapeutic use of herbal medicine is now being validated by scientific research.
