I am a Counsellor and fully qualified Play Therapist working in Private Practice from my clinical room in Diamond Creek and I also offer a mobile service through local schools. I specialise in Child-Centered play therapy but also work with clients of all ages. I believe that empathy and genuineness are vital in working with all people and strive to create an environment of safety and acceptance for all my clients.
I am passionate about working with children. As a qualified Primary School Teacher and a parent, I understand the challenges that children and families can face across these early years. I also understand how it can feel as a parent to worry about your child’s happiness. I am drawn to Child-Centered Play Therapy as a counselling modality as it is a developmentally appropriate way of working with children, who often struggle to find the words to describe their feelings and concerns. As play is natural and fun, it is a less threatening way of working with children. I believe that is it essential to work alongside parents and caregivers, and I aim to keep parents informed, involved and supported throughout their child’s therapy.
Prior to private practice, I worked on an anxiety helpline, facilitated support groups for generalised anxiety disorders for adults, and was a facilitator for Counselling and Youth Work courses at Estrada College. I am currently also a seminar presenter with the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors, teaching units from the Diploma of Counselling course.
