Pilates matwork is a series of exercises that are conducted on the floor without the use of any Pilates equipment and machines. The degree of attention that is placed on the flow of movement and to the core muscles is the same as when you are conducting Pilates with equipment. Matwork uses a mat and your own body weight for resistance. The Pilates method of exercise is a non-impact body conditioning program that is applicable and effective for people of all fitness levels and ages. It concentrates on focused breathing and controlled movements to strengthen the body’s core stabilising muscles.
