Many of us would like to move in a better way, without pain. Maybe this is to find an easier way to play a sport or musical instrument, with gardening or home maintenance, or at work on the computer or when driving, or handling the stress of performing in public. Often our difficulties in these and many other activities lie in unhelpful habits that have become 'glued-in' to our personal behaviours. Our life experiences, injuries and illnesses are all reflected in our habits.
Both the Alexander Technique and the Feldenkrais Method provide solutions to help re-train ourselves with improved habits of movement that are more sympathetic to our true, natural, selves. The Alexander Technique improves our ways of recognising and replacing inefficient habits with more helpful ways of being. The Feldenkrais Method lets us find more and more options of moving gracefully.
I work with individuals, one-to-one, in lessons of c. 45-50 minutes in both the Alexander Technique and the Feldenkrais Method. Additionally, I run occasional group classes in the Feldenkrais Method.
