Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy may well be one of the single most important complimentary body therapies to facilitate healing of the whole body. Through its’ effect on soft tissue or fascia, it brings about lasting and profound results. Fascia embraces all nerves, muscles, bones, arteries and veins.

Bowen therapy effects the body in many complex ways, stimulating and promoting healing, bringing about lasting pain relief, stress relief, and a recovery of energy.

Through specific soft tissue and fascial release techniques, Bowen therapy enables the body itself to correct fascial dysfunction and restore homeostasis on a holistic level. This release is achieved by short gentle rolling moves over muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. These can be done through a layer of clothing or on the skin.

The ultimate result is a fast and lasting relief from pain and discomfort and stress, and a return to balance and harmony.

The response is often seemingly miraculous and most clients experience long term or permanent resolution after 1 session or up to 4 sessions.

The experience of Bowen is typically gentle, subtle and relaxing, and it is these features that make Bowen therapy so unique

Tom Bowen (1916 – 1982) developed the original technique in Geelong Vic. And it is now practised all over the world.

Tom realized that the underlying source of many health problems could be found in the fascia of the body and that fascial dysfunction is often the cause of many health problems.

There have been many developments of Bowen Therapy over the last 20 years:

N.S.T. Neuro structural Integration Technique

N.S.T. Neuro structural Integration Technique was developed in 1991 to 1995 by Michael Nixon Livey and took Bowen therapy to a new level of effective treatment for ‘hard’ cases.

Bowen Dynamics

Bowen Dynamics (using nerves) has developed Bowen therapy yet again to a new level of healing achievements.

Hormonal Bowen

Hormonal Bowen developed by Trevor Rose in Australiais yet another advance on Bowen in that it specialize in any hormonal problem or imbalance and can be incorporated into a Bowen treatment.

Emmett Technique

The Emmett Technique is an understanding of the body's response to light touch. It has been suggested that the body reacts in a similar way to the workings of a touchscreen. Small sensors allow access to the brain via the therapists' touch. As well as the ability to directly influence muscle action, these points may have a memory and emotional attachment.

Craniofascial Therapy

This gentle remedial therapy uses slow interactive pressure and stretch techniques to assess and release restrictions of fascia (connective tissue) in the whole body including the head.It is a blend of myofascial release and craniosacral therapy to deeply engage with the body, to sense and release mobility restrictions and to restore physical balance and health."
