For more than 20 years Shane has been committed to a lifelong journey of discovering and understanding the human condition through the lens of Chinese medicine. Shane began his remedial massage practice in 1996 and spent three years in Germany in a private rehabilitation centre working mainly in traumotology with pre and post-operative patients.

He completed his Chinese medicine training in 2006 and has been operating his own practice since that time.

Over the years Shane has supported patients in chronic pain management with a focus on back, hip and shoulder/neck pain. His work is also effective in addressing chronic fatigue/post viral syndromes, digestive disorders, fertility, sleep disorders and stress related conditions.

He is available Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm.

Shane has been practising for over 20 years and has extensive clinical experience in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions with very positive results.

Massage is well known for its ability to address a broad range of painful musculoskeletal and inflammatory conditions including osteoarthritis, plantar fasciitis, migraine/headache, neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, sciatica, tendonitis, fibromyalgia, chronic muscle tension, repetitive strain conditions, and workplace, sporting and traumatic injuries.

Perhaps less well known but becoming increasingly well understood due to more recent research, massage can be very effective in the treatment of stress related conditions including anxiety, depression and insomnia. Massage can induce strong relaxation responses that can lower heart rate, respiratory rate, lower blood pressure and improve immune system functions.

Multiple studies have suggested that massage alters the body's physiological response to stress by lowering cortisol levels, increasing dopamine and serotonin (feel good) hormones and lowering excitatory hormones like norepinephrine and epinephrine. In view of this it is clear that massage is a therapy that has an ability to address a broad range of both psycho-emotional and physical conditions.

Shane has been practicing massage for 21 years and is passionate about supporting his clients to improve their health and wellbeing through the use of this powerful modality.

His acupuncture treatments have supported his clients in treating a variety of conditions including musculoskeletal pain, digestive disorders, sleep problems and immune deficiencies.

Traditional Chinese medicine is based on an ancient philosophy that describes the universe, and the body, in terms of two opposing forces: yin and yang. When these forces are in balance, the body is healthy. Energy, called 'qi' flows along specific pathways called meridians throughout the body. This constant flow of energy keeps the yin and yang forces balanced.

However, if the flow of energy gets blocked, like water getting stuck behind a dam, the disruption can lead to pain, poor function and numerous other pathologies. Acupuncture therapy can restore the flow of blocked qi in the body and stimulate function, evoking the body’s natural healing response through various physiological systems. Modern research has demonstrated acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. By stimulating the body’s various systems and restoring optimal function, acupuncture can help to resolve pain, and improve sleep, digestive function, and sense of well-being.

Case-controlled clinical studies have shown that acupuncture has been an effective treatment for the following diseases, symptoms or conditions:

Hay fever
Depression
Facial pain (including TMJ syndrome)
Headache
Hypertension/Hypotension
Induction of labor
Knee pain
Low back pain
Morning sickness
Nausea and vomiting
IBS
Neck pain
Postoperative pain
Osteoarthritis
Sciatica
Sprain
Stroke
Tennis elbow

Shane has been practicing acupuncture since 2007 and is constantly inspired by the power of acupuncture to heal and improve the wide range of conditions that present in his clinic.

Chinese herbal medicine has an unbroken tradition going back to the 3rd century BC and still forms a major part of the healthcare system in China – in many Chinese hospitals it is used alongside western medicine. It is a complete medical system that is capable of treating a very wide range of conditions. Chinese herbal therapy is often used in conjunction with acupuncture, dietary therapy, and exercises in breathing and movement (tai chi and qi gong).

Chinese herbal medicine is based on the concepts of Yin and Yang. It aims to understand and treat the many ways in which the fundamental balance and harmony between the two may be undermined and the ways in which a person's qi or vitality may be depleted or blocked.

Chinese herbal medicine can treat a broad range of conditions including:

Skin disease: including eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, urticaria
Gastro-intestinal disorders: including irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation, ulcerative colitis, poor absorption and assimilation
Gynaecological conditions: including pre-menstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhoea, endometriosis, infertility
Chronic fatigue and post viral syndromes
Respiratory conditions: including asthma, bronchitis, and chronic coughs, allergic and perennial rhinitis and sinusitis
Rheumatological conditions (e.g. osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis)
Urinary conditions including chronic cystitis
Psychological and stress related conditions: including insomnia, depression and anxiety, etc.

Shane has been practicing Chinese herbal medicine since 2007 and employs the use of various traditional and individually composed formulas to address each patient's specific needs, and to help maintain and cultivate health.
