Osteopathy was originally developed as a Complimentary Therapy by a doctor, for doctors. It involves hands on methods to help the body heal disease and optimise function. We do not use any cracking manipulations. We use gentle approaches and medically based history taking to form a realistic assessment of the patients current condition.
Our osteopaths have a special interest in cranial osteopathy

The 4 Primary Principles of Osteopathy are...
- The body functions as a whole unit; mind, body and spirit. This sees a number of in-depth and complex connections. Thus, Osteopathic principles work on a number of physiological functions all at the same time. The primary difference between conventional training and osteopathic treatments is that we work with the unity of the organism, as opposed to separating the body into different parts.
- The body is able to self-heal and self-regulate. This principle is crucial to the basis of osteopathic medicine and treatments. Sessions are directed towards helping and supporting the mechanisms of self-regulation to be re-energised and restored.
- Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated. Osteopathy is based upon a thorough knowledge of physiology (function) and anatomy (structure). The understanding of the relationship between function and structure applies to all different levels of anatomy, from cellular tissue, organ and system level. Osteopathic medicine applies this knowledge of function and structure in both the evaluation of tissue function and the practice of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM).
- Rational treatment is based upon an understanding of the above 3 principles. We work tirelessly to help and support the client’s inherent health and energy. This is the central function of osteopathic medicine.
