Self Care Workshops

SHOULDER & NECK WORKSHOP: Saturday 17th July 1:30-3:30pm, Senior Citizens, Katoomba, $70

Ease neck and shoulder tension

Relax and de-stress

This workshop includes learning a combination of:

  • Slow gentle movements to help relieve neck/shoulder tension (based on the Feldenkrais Method)
  • Hand and foot reflexology points for neck & shoulders
  • A simple breathing technique to help with anxiety and stress

Bookings essential as limited numbers. Payment options: Contact Anna for direct debit (no fee) or credit card details (2% fee).  Workshops need to be paid in advance to confirm a spot. They are non-refundable, but transferrable to another person on the day.

This workshop is based on a combination of Chinese Medical Qigong and concepts from Physiotherapy and Visceral Release Therapy.  Learn Traditional Chinese Medicine Qigong self-healing movements to balance your lungs. These gentle exercises help regulate the meridian system to disperse blocked energy in your arms, lungs, heart and chest area bringing harmony to mind, body and spirit. Learn the mechanics of breathing and self-help techniques (soft tissue releases, stretches and exercises) to optimise your breathing capacity and efficiency. Facilitators are Liz Noad (Physiotherapist) and Anna Fisher (Qigong teacher, Feldenkrais Method Practitioner & Reflexologist).

RESTORING NATURAL BALANCE: Sunday 14th March 9:30am-12:00pm, Katoomba, $80

This workshop is based on a combination of Chinese Medical Qigong and concepts from Visceral Release Therapy. Learn Traditional Chinese Medicine self-healing Qigong exercises to balance your digestive organs and meridians. These gentle exercises help regulate the meridian system bringing harmony to mind, body and spirit. Learn self-mobilisation for the digestive organs using self-release techniques to improve joint mobility and boost energy levels. Facilitators are Liz Noad (Physiotherapist) and Anna Fisher (Qigong teacher, Feldenkrais Method Practitioner & Reflexologist).

Shallow poor breathing habits play a key role in stress, muscle tension and lack of energy. Explore ways to breathe more easily and deeply using gentle movement & breathing techniques. Based on the Feldenkrais Method (a powerful movement based learning system designed to improve posture, movement and comfort) and more! This workshop is only for members and carers of the Cancer Wellness Centre.

GROUND YOUR FEET IN NATURE/PUT A SPRING IN YOUR STEP. Sunday 15th November, 9:30am-12:30pm, $110. Free stiff hips and ankles, explore and improve balance, regain a sense of ease when walking, connect to the ground through your feet.

QIGONG/TAI CHI WORKSHOP: Saturday 5th December 10am-11:30am, $40.  Learn a simple daily practise: Improve energy, breathing and posture. Learn the ancient art of Shibashi Qigong (a gentle flowing form of movements based on the essence of Yang style Tai Ch) to cultivate energy and relaxation. Suitable for beginners.  
Pelvic Health Workshop: Online via Zoom, Saturday 3rd October, 2-4pm, $55. Improve pelvic floor function and awareness, help manage back and pelvic pain, improve bladder control, sexual function and hip issues.

Based on the Feldenkrais Method, a powerful movement based learning system designed to improve posture, movement and comfort. It builds on kegel pelvic floor exercises, using a combination of breathing, pelvic and abdominal muscle activation in conjunction with whole body functional movements. The workshop includes a series of gentle guided awareness through movement classes, lying on the floor or sitting in a chair. Suitable for both men and women of all ages.

Care for your back: A self care workshop with Reflexology and Awareness Through Movement

Learn reflexology self-treatment tools for your back, hips, pelvis and neck. Reflexology is a holistic, non-invasive modality that compliments other therapies and modern medicine. It involves application of pressure and soothing techniques to areas of the feet and hands. It stimulates circulation, eases tension, tightness and tenderness in these areas, clearing blockages, having highly beneficial effect upon the whole body.

Experience a gentle guided Awareness Through Movement class to help free your back. Based on the Feldenkrais Method, a movement based learning system designed to improve posture, movement and comfort in your body.
