ABOUT

Mr Dapeng Wang migrated to Canberra from China in early 2000. He holds a degree in Sports from Shanghai Sports University and a postgraduate qualification in teaching English as a second language. Throughout his entire life in China, he engaged in the intensive study of both Chinese classic literature and Wushu (Tai Chi/Kungfu), Over the past 20 years he has dedicated himself to research in the fields of classical Chinese language acquisition and traditional Chinese health cultivation methods.

Dapeng has been inspired to connect himself to the Canberra community by the teaching of Wushu, Tai Chi, Chinese language and culture. He understands that the success of his teaching comes not only from the transfer of the subject matter itself but, just as significantly, from cultural exchange with his students and their enthusiasm for the subject matter.

Dapeng is a Special Award holder from the Grand World Wushu Competition in Shanghai in 1991 and a gold medal holder (traditional Wushu category) from the University Wushu Competition Shanghai in 1991. Dapeng has acted as a referee for International Wushu Competitions on a number of occasions and as a judge for the National Wushu Tournament in 1995.

Our history & current focus

TMS has been active for many years in the Canberra community teaching Taichi and Chinese Wushu (aka Kung Fu) to individuals and groups, including the Australian Public Service, community and private sectors, secondary schools and higher education institutions. Since 2001, our programmes were run under the name of the Chinese Traditional Wushu and Health Academy. We also have eight years of experience teaching Mandarin language to the Canberra community. Running two distinct programmes highlighted a key need; to offer a programme that integrated both Mandarin and Taichi classes, neither of which can be truly understood without the other. We are now delighted to offer our new Mandarin language and cultural teaching programme. Classes at Taichi & Mandarin Solutions aim to light a spark in your heart and captivate your mind and spirit, by engaging in meaningful discussions with our traditional Chinese language and culture experts while, at the same time, experiencing the authentic art of Taichi and Wushu. Our current services also cover customised Chinese Cultural awareness training and Mandarin-English two-way Interpreting. Our client-directed services aim to empower individuals to competently navigate the ever-changing Chinese cultural landscape to successfully fulfil their organisational objectives.

CLASS ENROLMENT

Welcome to TMS 2018 courses!

Taichi & Mandarin solutions is working with the UCfit of the University of Canberra and the Stellar Canberra of the Southern Cross Health Club to run the following courses for our Canberra community:

Kung Fu for Families

Cohesion within the family unit is something we all strive for. We are experienced in helping parents and their children to explore the richness of the ancient Chinese art of Wushu (also known as or Kung Fu). Wushu can be exercised gently or vigorously and has health benefits for young and old. It teaches discipline to students who will acquire self-defense skills, and more importantly, lead to more confidence and improvements in both physical wellbeing and self-confidence. In these classes, students will be experiencing a series of essential and fundamental exercises (Jiben Gong), traditional Cha Quan and practical self-defense skills. Students will be selected to learn authentic weapons in their second year of practice. If you are ready to improve your fitness and spend quality time with your children, come and join our unique Kung Fu for Families program. We have an expert, accredited in Wushu in both China and Australia who will deliver this program.

This affiliated UCfit program aims to start you on your journey to acquire the knowledge of traditional arts of Chinese Wushu (aka Kung Fu). It is an intensive course to help you develop a deep understanding of this intangible oriental art, and to work together with you to explore:

• the spirit of Wushu and Tai Chi practice
• how these ancient cultivation methods contribute subtle effects on our body/mind
• an opportunity to train with new friends in a mutually supporting manner
• a more active, diverse and balanced life style.
• No prior experience required

In these classes, students will be experiencing Spring Leg exercises (tan tui), traditional Cha Quan, Heart-Mind Six Harmonies Fist with practical self-defense skills. Also, you will have an opportunity to learn the authentic weapons and their combat skills under a strict and safe supervision.
If you are keen to improve your fitness and to acquire deeper level of understanding to Chinese Wuhu with a strong focus on its key philosophical disciplines, come and join our challenging yet fun Wushu (Kung Fu) for Health program at the UCfit. We have experts, accredited in Wushu in both China and Australia who will guide you through a longer term life style learning journey.
