Cupping is based on the meridian theory of the body. It removes any stagnation in the body and opens the meridians so that qi can flow freely. It also helps to rejuvenate certain meridians and organs that are not functioning at their best.

Chinese Cupping is a major aspect of TCM and is highly beneficial in the treatment of a range of health conditions from respiratory disorders to pain relief.

What is Cupping?

Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy in which a cup is applied to the skin and the pressure in the cup is reduced (either through suction or heat) in order to draw and to hold skin and superficial muscles inside of the cup. Cupping is helpful in relief of pain, promoting the flow of blood and qi to specific areas of the body or in the elimination of pathogens from the body. Cupping pulls blood to the region to stimulate healing.

Benefits include:

  • Improve circulation

  • Remove old stagnant blood

  • Increase oxygenation and tissue delivery

  • Stretch fascia and connective tissue

  • Cause micro trauma and beneficial inflammation
