The Breathing Clinic and its Founder Tina Taylor
The Founder of The Breathing Clinic, Tina Taylor, is a university-qualified Respiratory Educator and recipient of the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence in Asthma and Respiratory Management. Tina is passionate about taking respiratory education to the people and is the author of STRESS EFFECTS, which offers fascinating and unprecedented insights into the effects of stress on breathing patterns, gut health, adrenal function and addiction.
Tina combines specialised university studies in respiratory science with extensive experience in breathing retraining to deliver comprehensive breathing retraining programmes for a range of respiratory and stress-related conditions including anxiety, asthma, depression, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, rhino-sinusitis, snoring, sleep apnoea, hyperventilation, cardiovascular conditions, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and adrenal fatigue. Having undertaken training through the Coulson Institute of Orofacial Myology, Tina also offers programmes to help children discontinue oral habits such as chronic mouth breathing, thumb/finger sucking, lip/tongue sucking and prolonged dummy sucking.
With a commitment to evidence-based research, Tina works in alignment with other health care professionals, including GPs, dentists, chiropractors, speech pathologists and psychologists to support an integrated outcome with the best interests of each client in mind.
Tina’s commitment to evidence-based research comes from a background in law and science. After graduating with First Class Honours in Law and a Bachelor of Science from Griffith University, Tina was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a Barrister–at–Law before working in the field of environmental law and biotechnology policy and regulation for the Queensland Government. Tina’s strong sense of civic duty and desire to serve the people helped forge a new career path in the field of health science where Tina now shares her passion for respiratory education with others.
Tina is also a registered Yoga Teacher and member of Yoga Australia, and a certified GAPS Practitioner with a special interest in the relationship between gut health and respiratory conditions including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Tina is a member of the Lung Foundation Australia (LFA), Thoracic Society of Australia & New Zealand (TSANZ) and International Association of Facial Growth Guidance (IAFGG), and is committed to ongoing professional development through the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors.
