ABOUT US

The Medicine Man Ayurvedic Apothecary has it's roots in the ancient science of Ayurveda.

The Medicine Man is a combination of tailored herbal prescriptions based on Prakriti and Vikriti, as well as generalist tonics and remedies for improving digestion, elimination of toxins, increasing energy levels, reducing stress, and strengthening resistance to disease.

We also offer a unique range of body therapies, for people with acute or chronic musculo-skeletal problems and nerve related issues (sciatica, back ache, frozen shoulder, RSI etc), as well as therapeutic massage for general wellbeing, and Shirodhara for people experiencing insomnia, migraines, nervous disorders, and stress. TREATMENTS

Shirodhara

Shirodhara is a deeply relaxing treatment, unique to Ayurveda. It begins with a hand and foot massage, followed by a constant stream of warm medicated oil directed onto the forehead for 30 mins. This is then followed by an invigorating head and shoulder massage, leaving you deeply relaxed but alert. Ideal for people suffering from insomnia, anxiety, depression, stress, migraines, or hormonal issues.

Ayurvedic Massage

Ayurvedic massage or 'abhyanga' is a full body, warm oil massage that uses the skin as a vehicle for delivering medicated herbal oils to the body. Therapeutic strokes are designed to release tension from the muscles and fascia, whilst simultaneously redirecting toxins and impurities back to the digestive system for elimination. Special energy points in the body known as 'marmas' can also be incorporated for additional therapeutic benefit. This style of massage incorporates both sides of the body, and finishes with an invigorating head massage, leaving you both relaxed and alert.

Kati Basti

Kati basti is a musculo-skeletal technique unique to Ayurveda. It is useful for conditions such as frozen shoulder, back pain, spondilitis etc, and involves the construction of a special dough based 'well' or 'basti' that is placed over the affected area and filled with heated, medicated oil. The temperature of the oil is slowly increased to 50 degrees, with this temperature maintained for 20-25 mins, and finishes with a therapeutic back massage.
