About Us

Since February 2010 we have been providing physiotherapy services for children aged from birth to adolescence. In 2015 we added occupational therapy to our team.

We focus on empowering the child and family to maximise the child's potential through individualised activities that are incorporated into play as much as possible.

We listen to your child's and family's needs and work on functional goals that are meaningful to you. Assessment and intervention can be conducted in the child's environment to reduce any stress to the child and to make the intervention contextual to the child's world. Asessment and intervention can alternativley be conducted in clinic rooms if this works better for your family.

Our aim is for the child to feel able to participate in family and community activities and enjoy life!

We recognise that parents/carers are the experts regarding their child, and we consider them to be a member of the intervention team.

Our therapists are registered with Medicare so that rebates can be claimed from private health funds. HICAPS facilities at our clinic allow you to instantly claim your private health rebate.
Therapy 4 Kids is a registered provider with Better Start and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Intervention Locations:

Services

Developmental Assessment & Screening

  • You may notice your child has:

    • difficulty with balance or co-ordination

    • postural peculiarities

    • is not progressing with their gross or fine motor skills.

  • The way a baby or child moves is often more important than the time frame in which they achieve developmental milestones. A neuromotor developmental assessment can identify if your child is presenting with a movement concern or is just developing at their own rate. Often a well-targeted set of activities is all that is required to help a child achieve their milestones and a mild delay can be rectified with a brief period of intervention.

  • If a movement concern is identified we will refer and work with your medical team.

Conditions We Treat

  • Orthopaedic conditions such as plagiocephaly (a flat area on the head of babies), torticollis (head turned or tilted to one side), lower limb alignment (feet turning inwards or toe-walking), patella-femoral mal-alignment, scoliosis or joint pain.

  • Developmental delay or concerns. The way a baby or child moves is often more important than the time frame in which they achieve their developmental milestones. A neuromotor developmental assessment can identify if there are underlying issues that need to be addressed. Knowing how to help your child achieve their developmental milestones is sometimes all that is required.

Orthopaedic

We treat orthopaedic conditions such as plagiocephaly (a flat area on the head of babies), torticollis (head turned or tilted to one side), lower limb alignment (feet turning inwards or toe-walking), patella-femoral mal-alignment, scoliosis or joint pain.

We also provide post-op rehabilitation and intervention for orthopaedic surgery.

Garments and Casting

TheraTogs System

  • The TheraTog system is designed to be worn under clothes. This allows a nappy or underwear to be changed without having to remove the TheraTogs. They are worn all day and provide postural realignment to assist with optimal movement patterns. The tank and hipsters form the base garment and the velcro strapping is applied on top of these. The velcro strapping is an individual prescription and is likely to change as the child's needs change.

  • TheraTogs come in all sizes and we have baby, infant, preschool and paediatric sizes available to use within our sessions.

Straps Australia suiting

  • Straps Australia Spiral Thigh Brace

  • Straps Australia Power Suit

  • Straps Australia Trunk Stability Suit

We have a comprehensive sizing kit available in our clinic for trials and sizing purposes. This suiting is only available for purchase on a prescription from a collaborator with Straps Australia.

Casting

Serial casting is conducted in the clinic. Serial casting is an evidence-based intervention for regaining range of movement in the lower limb. We typically cast children with cerebral palsy after Botulinum Toxin-A injections and children with idiopathic toe-walking who have lost ankle range of movement.

Hip Helpers

Hip helpers can be an effective tool to use in therapy, particularly in children with low tone. They provide pelvic stability as well as aligning the legs under the hips to facilitate the development of hip stabilty and control. They can help babies with low tone develop crawling and toddlers and young children develop effective weight-shift and stability in walking. The full range of helpers are available for trial and sizing at our clinic.

Spio suiting

Spio suiting provides sensory feedback and awareness. Suiting comes in tops, pants and vests. The vest is available for trial in the clinic.
