Completing her studies in 2009, Acupuncturist Tia Yoong is enthusiastic and committed to help you achieve your health goals. Working with the team at EAST WEST FERTILITY (EWF) since 2009, Tia’s passion lies in the area of fertility. Joining the highly skilled EWF team, Tia has gained invaluable experience and expertise in pre-conception care, IVF and ART support, Pregnancy care, Labour preparation and post natal care.
CONCEPTION
What Tia brings to the table is a focus on the emotional changes that comes with the fertility phase of life. Hormonal imbalances and artificial hormonal stimulation often make this a greatly difficult time on both the male and female, when both feel it should be joyous time in their lives. Tension develops between a couple, and often the process of trying to conceive is questioned as all becomes too difficult to cope. When the mind and the body are functioning as one, results will follow.
From her experience with EWF Tia is skilled at IVF support. She understands the IVF cycle, and knows how use acupuncture and herbs to assist the process.
Miscarriage is also a major cause of fear and stress after conceiving. Whether you have a history of miscarriages, or are showing signs of a threatened miscarriage, acupuncture can help prevent the occurrence of miscarriage. In Chinese Medicine, for a pregnancy to be viable, in the early stages energy or ‘qi’ must have a lifting or raising function to ‘hold’ the embryo in the womb. Spotting during pregnancy is usually failure of this lifting action of qi, causing leakage of blood. Acupuncture prompts the qi to be raised, preventing bleeding and ‘holding’ the embryo in the womb. By contrast, in the last stage of pregnancy, qi must go in a downward direction for the baby to be born, so induction treatments prompt the qi to flow downwards.

LABOUR PREPARATION
Tia knows and trusts the importance of labour preparation with acupuncture. From 34 weeks gestation, weekly acupuncture treatments will prepare the body for a NATURAL labour.Treatments during this time will ensure baby is in the correct position going into labour, and aid in the softening of the cervix by using acupoints proven to release OXYTOCIN. Such oxytocin release is gradual and accumulative, and labour cannot be induced early, but rather be encouraged to occur around expected due date. Labour preparation / induction treatments can be commenced as early as 34 weeks, and as late as your due date or thereafter. Acupuncture labour induction treatments are quintessential when threatened with medical induction.
POST NATAL CARE
When baby final arrives, and motherhood thrust upon us, it can often be overwhelming. Difficulties with breast feeding are incredibly disheartening, and Tia understands this first hand. Through treatment and support, Tia is able to help you through times of self doubt as a new mother.
PEDIATRIC CONDITIONS
Being a Mother, Tia also has special interests in pediatric conditions. Every mother wishes to avoid medical intervention for their newly born, pure, child. Modified techniques of acupuncture (needles not retained) assist your child to heal, just as acupuncture does for adults. Colic, digestive disorders, sleep disturbance, night terrors, teething, fevers, sore throat, colds and flus are all common conditions that acupuncture can treat for children.
