Servicing areaPark Orchards & Melbourne VIC
Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that recognises the important connection between the structure of the body and its capacities. The unity of skeleton function, joints, muscles, nerves, connective tissue, circulation and inner bodies are all concentrated in Osteopaths.
An osteopathic consultation with your practitioner takes 30-45 minutes to complete in the clinic.
One or more of the following methods may include performing osteopathic therapy:
- Dry needling
- Joint manipulation
- Osteopathy in the cranial field
- Soft tissue massage
- Stretching (Muscle Energy Technique MET)
You can work with your osteopath in order to:
- Improve joint mobility
- Help prevent future episodes
- Offer advice on posture, exercises and stretching
- Reduce muscular tension, nerves and inflammation
- Reduce the duration of painful episodes
Osteopaths complete their college education in Australia for at least five years in anatomy, pathology, physiology, osteopathic methods, and general medical diagnosis. These graduates have a double Bachelor or Masters degree.
In order to maintain professional growth, osteopaths are required by law to remain in practice every year. Without an appointment from a General Practitioner (GP), osteopaths are trained to know the difference between pain and non-complicated pain that needs specialist treatment.
