What is Counselling?



Counselling is a form of 'talk therapy', where an individual, couple or family can talk about and work through problems. It is designed to help people understand and clarify their views of their life space, and to learn to reach their self-determined goals through meaningful, well-informed choices and through resolution of problems of an emotional or interpersonal nature.

By listening attentively and patiently the counsellor can begin to perceive difficulties from a persons point of view and can help them to see things more clearly, possibly from a different perspective.


What can I expect in a counselling session?



At Whispers of the Heart, your counselling session lasts 50 minutes and takes place in a private and confidential setting. We will begin your session with clarifying what brings you to counselling and seek to explore any difficulties you may have and distress you may be experiencing or perhaps dissatisfaction with life, or loss of sense of direction and purpose.

At Whispers of the Heart, a range of counselling techniques are practiced such as Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Counselling can also be combined with other therapies such as Reiki and energy healing to explore what is happening at an energetic, vibrational level.
