Babies & Toddlers

When your baby is first born, and over the first couple of years of their young life, nutrition is absolutely integral to the development of their immune system, their brain and their growing body. Poor nutrition or specific influential factors such as lifestyle, genetics and environment can potentially interfere with their development and in some cases have lifelong consequences. Good nutrition, customised to how your child’s body works can go a long long way towards preventing any illnesses and the growth of any chronic conditions.

Nutrition is able to help with:

  • Reflux, colic & failure to thrive

  • Allergies, intolerances, eczema & asthma

  • Constipation, diarrhoea & sleep difficulties

  • Introducing solids & fussy eating

  • Recurring infections

Children of School Age

As children begin to reach the age when they will start attending school, they have developed a new set of developmental requirements and face the challenge of a changing routine and lifestyle.

There are also an influx of physical demands for play and growth and their young brains must be able to cope with new ways of understanding and learning to keep them emotionally and intellectually engaged with the world around them. Throughout this period, common challenges and illnesses of early childhood can contribute to the development of sustained chronic conditions.

Using nutrition as a way of maintaining health can help with:

  • Behavioural and neurological challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD & Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • Allergies, intolerances, eczema & asthma

  • Constipation, diarrhoea, bedwetting & sleep difficulties

  • Growth spurts and weight management

  • Recurring infections and autoimmune diseases

Teenagers

As children grow into teenagers, again their lives and their lifestyle will begin to change dramatically. They must cope with the demands of social activities, education, work and extracurricular activities. Whilst this is going on, their brains are rewiring, hormones are undergoing changes and their bodies are under emotional, mental and physical pressure.

Throughout this time, good nutrition will be able to assist with:

  • Skin conditions and weight management

  • Boosting the immune system to avoid missing days at school

  • Stress, anxiety and depression, hormone balance & mood

  • Low energy and improving sleep patterns

  • Preventing and managing autoimmune conditions (e.g. coeliac disease and type 1 diabetes)

  • Increased nutrient demands of growth spurts
