The Yoga Place

Welcome to The Yoga Place

Now in our 13th year of operation, we offer ongoing yoga classes and yoga courses in Ashtanga yoga as taught by T. Krishnamacharya, the original teacher of TKV Desikachar (Vinni yoga) Shri Patabi Jois (Ashtanga vinyasa yoga) and BKS Iyengar (Iyengar Yoga).

Classes are graded to suit the levels of the students.

New Students are welcome to attend any classes. In addition we run six week Foundation Courses for those who prefer the course route. These courses run every six weeks (see website for next start dates)

Students from different styles who want to know more about Ashtanga and Anusara Yoga can attend a Yoga Principles class - these are held every six weeks on a Saturday afternoon

We also run special Prenatal yoga classes (Sat 10-11.15 a.m.), Mums and & Bubs Yoga classes (Monday 11-12.15 p.m.) and Kids Yoga Classes for 6-9s on Tuesday afternoons (3.45-4.45 p.m.)

Our Approach

We practice Ashtanga Yoga derived from the work of T. Krishnamacharya and his main students. This includes vinyasa sequences he taught K. Pattabhi Jois as well as vinyasa sequences that we construct based on the principles of sequence design he taught his son TKV Desikachar.

Our teaching approach is also strongly influenced by the universal principles of alignment of Anusara Yoga, pioneered by John Friend.
